Joe fans, enjoy the win, celebrate. Joe earned it, you earned it. But it has to stop there. All issues aside, the plain fact is Roy Jones Jr is shot. Calzaghe was expected to beat him. He's already a great fighter who has established himself a place in the history books. There's no need to sugarcoat it anymore. Be satisfied with "the longest reigning supermiddleweight in history" or "one of the best fighters today." It's the crap like "the best fighter from the last 25 years" that make more people hate him. Next, there is no american, or in this case no one around his weight class can beat him right now. Admit it. Dawson maybe, but he's too inexperienced and might be way over his head should the fight come off. This is the same way when Lennox Lewis was the dominant heavyweight at that time. Again, nobody. Period. You guys want to give Joe competition, have him move up to cruiser, maybe Steve Cunningham is interested in fighting him. Lastly, Pac is p4p number 1. Joe is a strong second. Beating Jones (again, "shot") will not change all of it. But if Pac loses to DLH, then it rightfully belongs to Joe. I repeat, "if." Unless of course, JMM does something spectacular at 135 which is a different story altogether.
Agree. Although I will say that though most thought Calzaghe would get the win on workrate, very few thought he would absolutely destroy Jones like he did.
I suppose a moron could say that Pac beat an over-the-hill Morales, a shot Barerra and didn't actually beat JMM either time. But that would be as stupid as saying Calzaghe beat an over-the-hill Jones, a overhyped Lacy and didn't actually beat Hopkins.
A win is a win. I do not see why people read too deep into these matches. Clazaghe has an excellent record yet people continually tear him down. Same with Manny.
Because some fans overreacts with a certain win despite the opponent doesn't pose that much of a threat to win. Everything needs to be at least leveled with reality.
