Marquez is hacking out with a slow right jab, lowering the drawbridge and then pulling it back up, lulling Tamara before diving in with hard straight lefts to the body. Tamara waits for chances to catch Marquez with a counter hook across the back of the head when he's there underneath him, or long right hands when he resets on the outside. Marquez is still leaving plenty of space between them, defensive minded but for his kamikaze runs.

Marquez is crossing his feet over moving left, putting up right jabs and plunging in with lefts on the belt line. The ref warns Marquez, maybe for straying low. Tamara pulls all the way back with both hands down by his waist, chin tucked into his throat, playing daredevil as Marquez throws some rare shots above the chest. They parry jabs as Marquez comes toward Tamara. Wide left hook by Tamara, caught on the back of the arm. Marquez keeps encroaching, knocking aside Tamara's jab with his right and pasting him with a left. The crowd likes it.

Round 4

Marquez is stepping in, dropping his head in past Tamara's fluttering left jab, and piling in lefts on his body. Marquez shows the high right jab, window dressing as he looks for somewhere to land the left. He begins to aim more at the head, and Tamara is able to slide back and make him miss while reaching out and tapping him with long woodpecker jabs. BIG right hook by Marquez puts Tamara against the ropes. Tamara spins his way off and works the left hand double time, jabbing and hooking to hold Marquez at bay...to no avail. Marquez walks through everything and bombs in with the left.

Round 5

Marquez is moving in for the kill. Tamara hooks with him. Ill advised. Tamara down. He comes back for more. BIG quadruple right hook by Marquez, up and down Tamara's side as he rolls himself into a ball. Big shots by Marquez, corkscrewing right hooks followed by smashing overhand lefts. Tamara is kept on the ropes, able to burrow his back into them and gain purchase to blast his way free with a straight right and then hook desperately while navigating clear around Marquez. Huge shots by Marquez dialing around to square up. HUGE body combo by Marquez, charging in with freight train force and following through with both fists.

Round 6

Marquez is bullying Tamara with the right jab, forcing him to either move straight back or stand in the path of hard straight lefts to the body. If he moves to either side, Marquez simply combines right hooks to the head with the bruising left downstairs. Time out. Tamara has a bad cut over his eye, being checked in the corner. Time in. Marquez walks through all of Tamara's jabs to dust him with power shots.

Round 7

Lots of spoiling by Tamara, running and jabbing from outside when not tying up inside. Marquez is throwing full-power left hands at inclines, but Tamara is ducking under them and nearly lifting Marquez up from below. Lots of stop and go action. Very little clean work by either man.

10-9 Marquez but Tamara succeeded in making a mess of it.

Round 8

Marquez is following Tamara around, dropping lefts to the body and lunging up top but missing when he does. Tamara pot shots with jabs from too far away to land, skipping as cautiously around Marquez as Marquez himself maneuvered around him in the opener. Complete reversal since then, Marquez no longer caring about Tamara's power but Tamara having developed a healthy fear of Marquez's.

Marquez is covering up as Tamara begins to embolden himself, throwing jabs into the guard and pressing in behind a right. Marquez arches his back to dive under the rights and plants his left on Tamara's midsection. Tamara clinches. Break. Hard right jab by Marquez with a kick-step with his lead foot. Marquez comes in and waves his right forearm around, counter-feinting as Tamara pump-fakes a left jab. They collide and get tangled, Marquez ending up spooning Tamara when he spins into him.
