Lacierva retired at the beginning of the 8th round because he had an obviously fractured left clavicle, the two portions of the bone were displaced from each other, one of the pieces of bone was darn near poking through the skin, and there was a hematoma forming at the point of fracture. Lacierva was pawing at his shoulder for at least a few rounds, not sure if he had such an obvious fracture all that time, but if so, it is beyond belief he would fight with that injury.

I only caught the very end of the Marquez fight, when Arroyo flattened him with that devastating right uppercut to end the fight. I didn't even know before today that Marquez had moved up from flyweight to junior bantamweight; having checked his record, I have no idea how he landed this IBF junior bantamweight eliminator, since I believe his only fight above flyweight was his most recent fight 2 months ago vs Apolinario, when he weighed in at 116.5 pounds, ie, officially a bantamweight. Regardless, Marquez was an elite fighter in a stacked flyweight division, and I figured he would carry up his power to junior bantamweight, especially against an opponent with such a limited resume as Arroyo's. The fact that Arroyo knocked Marquez down FOUR times, including that final devastating uppercut, makes me think Marquez must be at/near the end of his career, certainly at an elite level.

Now it looks like Jhonny vs. Arce for the WBC featherweight title? Both have said that is what they want if Arce won tonight. Personally, I'd much rather see Jhonny fight better and ranked guys because he is at the top among the featherweights right now, but I guess if Arce is the biggest moneymaker and very low risk, why not...

I guess the hard fights just wore on him. Maybe he'll get something out of a step up? He looks like such a beast but that's a loss that doesn't rub.

Great performance by Arroyo. These twin brothers are no joke.
