Jabs and overhand rights by Sanchez, as Vargas slaps out wide from the sides and throws some long body shots. Sanchez keeps circling and jabbing, boxing nicely.

    Round 2

Sanchez is jabbing his way in on Vargas, backing him up but getting sloppy with his right hand over the top and letting Vargas get some connections in. Sanchez is landing much better body shots, dipping to his left and planting the hook. Vargas retreats from the smaller man, throwing punches back but looking intimidated.

    20-18 Sanchez

    Round 3

Vargas puts up a high jab and circles left. Sanchez hops in and out, and throws overhand rights up at the forehead of the taller Vargas. Sanchez is whipping that right hand up high while keeping his left cocked by his chin as he jumps in. Clinch. They touch gloves. Sanchez blocks some left jabs. Vargas tries to find a spot to land through Sanchez's defense. Meanwhile Sanchez is ducking and creeping inside, landing hooks to the body and big right hands up top. Slicing right by Sanchez misses from outside. Vargas backs up and jabs. Body shots by Sanchez. RIGHT HAND BY VARGAS! BIG SHOT. Almost enough to steal the round for him.

    30-27 Sanchez

    Round 4

Sanchez is jumping in and landing big left hooks. Vargas is hurt and staggering back toward the ropes. Sanchez throws some high rights diving forward! Vargas tries to tie up! The little man comes zooming in, banging away with all his might! Vargas slugs back at him! Good action! :bbb Sanchez is punishing him with overhand rights and uppercuts from outside. Vargas backs up, and circles to his right. Sanchez loads up a big overhand right and misses. Sanchez weaves side to side and throws a right, but eats one from Vargas. Sanchez jabs his way in. Big exchange.

Box Azteca commentators have it a 38-38 draw. :conf

They gave Vargas the 1st and 3rd.

Two questions. One, is RBR commentary for live action? Two, I thought Mepranum was fighting someone else on the undercard. Did Mayol end up bailing on the fight, and Mepranum step up for the title shot? Whatever happened though, I've lost all respect for Marquez, whose resume sucked anyway apart from the two wins over Luis Concepcion.
