So, the Montiel family isn't training Marquez anymore? It seemed like they had some good chemistry.

It's ****ing impossible to find the time on the internet. I even went to the Azteca website and they don't even have a time.

    Another very good thread, Sam.

I still can't believe Tyson lost to Mepranum. He is SO MUCH better, him, and had absolutely no business losing to him. Easily his worst night yet. There's not much excusing needed when it comes to Donaire. It's ****ing Donaire. :yep

Richie, though... Marquez will never live that down, IMO. That guy sucks. It's like Prescott having a win over Khan (even though the circumstances are completely different) - that's how stark the difference in talent between the superior guy and the man who beat him.

Mempranum is ok. But looking at what Julio Cesar Miranda did to Mempranum there is no way Marquez should have lost to him!

Mepranum isn't even OK in my book. He's not even a top 20 prospect from the Philippines IMO. I rate him even lower than Bernabe Concepcion when it comes to actual boxing technique. Horrible fighter, just wings punches.

Marquez has more technical skill, better speed and more power. How he managed to **** that up is still beyond me. He basically gave it away, and let Mepranum get away with murder. It isn't like Margarito-Cotto where a bigger and stronger guy walked down the better boxer. It was a bigger but weaker guy being allowed to walk down someone who was superior in every way. Ming-boggling.

I see your points. Anyways do you know what time Marquez-Concepcion is? I would like to watch the Calderon fight before it so do you know the time for that too?

I'm not sure about Calderon vs. Rivas, but Marquez vs. Concepcion is in about four to four and a half hours on TV Azteca (and probably also streaming legally on Azteca's own website, but don't quote me on that).

That's the beauty of our sport, when the inferior fighter on paper becomes superior when it matters most. Marquez himself was a solid underdog vs. Concepcion but made it his kind of fight. If Luis learned anything from that loss is not to fall in love with his own abilities but put the hard, smart work behind every challenge.

    :good

FWIW, I think El Nica would bomb Richie Mepranum the **** out of the ring ten times out of ten. (I also think Tyson Marquez would win all nine rematches with him, after watching the tape and taking the hint to pull his head out of his ass. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it is one of those weird flukey things where a lesser talent has the other guy's number. :conf)
