Hero worship is a phenomenon only young people do.

Nothing wrong with, respecting a fighter and commenting upon his or hers skill and technique etc, as seen in many of the posts on this forum.

    But

There is a lot of hero worship on this forum. If a fighter achieves even a single victory or success, he is spoken about by some, as if he is blessed with almost superhuman powers. That he is the hardest, most devastating, most skilful fighter who has ever lived.

I was the same. Mike Tyson, was a superhuman God, back in the day.

Please knock the hero worship on the head, don't do it, decease.

    Reasons

    1. It makes me want to vomit.

    2. It dates anyone who does it as being young and immature, (nothing wrong with being that way, but are you sure you want to advertise it?)

    3. If you don't already, very soon you too will detest sycophantic hero worship.

    4. If you ever meet any of these fighters, they would much prefer you to be a real human being, than some crazy worshipping fan.

    Who's worshiping jones?
He dominated everyone he faced, he's 23, and one of the most gifted fighters today. He's not Jose Aldo but he's doing very impressive things right now. I think he gets props he rightly deserves.

Worshipping does have to stop though. That's a big reason why there were so many Fedor haters.

i'm like this but take it with a pinch of salt. if you put me on a lie detector test and asked me if shogun is my hero i would honestly say no but as a fan i want to enjoy the ride so it is good to get caught up in the hype and excitement.

Well I merely suggested that Shogun is better than Bader & Vera and takedown + elbow = fight over in round 1 is not a foregone conclusion and Chimba got sand in his vag about it
So if thats hero worship then yeah, guilty as charged

I think the OP is referring more to some of the Fedor nonsense, where it seemed as though some were more concerned with who could stroke his **** better than actually analyzing his fighting skills. Total dismissal of his opponents, and comments like "Fedor by anything he wants" and "Fedor by ****" are just ludicrous.

Fedor is not inhuman, is not invulnerable, and doesn't possess a style that is beyond criticism. That is what made his run so special. Fedor was an extremely explosive fighter that sometimes won in spite of the holes in his game, not because of them.

Yeah Ive pointed out that Fedor while explosive does not have elite stand up and one poster threatened to stop posting due to excessive Fedor hate

Someone doesn't necessarily have to be young to be immature. (nor, inversely, old to be mature)

There will always be dumb posters that believe somebody is special but, Jones is actually special. He has only been training for about 4 years now and is only 23. The guy had immense raw talent and is now nourishing it. Unlike somebody like tyson though, he is gonna face some top tier opponents very early and show if he really is worthy of the hype. I'm rooting for shogun but, expect jones to win. Win win fight for me.
