This would be a perfect come-back fight for Matthysse. Herrera won't be easy but I expect Matthysse to stop him.
:hey and before you start yelling out that i deleted the last one its because i actually agree, Matthysse could do with a change of training camp either with Robert Garcia or Freddie Roach It was a close fight yet people make it out as if Matthysse was dominated . . . Matthysse made danny hurt, it looked like the game plan was to clinch and hitlow when Matthysse's pressure started building. you look at the knockdown (which i admit I had to watch it a few times it happened so fast) Dannys glove hits Matthysse in the back of the head and pulls him into the ropes where he throws a left hook to the Arm, a right hook which from that angle is hard to tell if it landed clearly and matthysse went down. but you can argue if it was legitimate or not As for the eye theres a few speculations that it was caused by a thumb but im not bothered so much by that as i have no idea if it was intentional or not but the low shots? once or twice . . . hell even three times I can pass but he hit him low throughout the fight just remember the score cards : 112-114 twice and 115-111. take into consideration some people think the knockdown shouldnt have counted then its 114-113 / 115-112 (114-114 if you scored the round for lucas) and then arguably Garcia could have had a point deducted again for the constant fouls so its could either be a draw or a SD win for Lucas But im just being picky with this, I have no problem with the scorecards and the knockdown was a judgement call by the ref in a split second so for once im not blaming the officials (minus the refs calls on the lowblows and clinching buts that niether here nor there) Garcia won on the night, it was a close tough fight and a lot of people were calling for a rematch due to Garcia's dirty tactics which is why Canelo got the shot against Mayweather and not Garcia because if you remember that fight was supposed to set up floyds next opponent and Danny said that Matthysse would never get a rematch despite public demand and after angels garci's comments stated above in those facts of yours i edited you can see why they wont fight lucas again now ive tried to be fair and unbiased despite team Garcia annoy the **** out of me and if a rematch were to occur Matthysse would need a better corner and neutralise Garcia's left hook but well have to wait until we see Matthysse back in the ring next to make a fair judgement as both fighters took a lot of damage although I think Garcia can be outboxed easily as shown in the first few rounds of the Khan fight, the first Morales fight, the judah fight and the herrera fight and to some extent same can be said against Lucas however a lot of people think he was hard done in the Judah fight as well as the Alexander fight where it was blatantly obvious he was robbed just like Kotelnik was and Matthysse has a hell of a lot more power than Danny to counter this to an extent
Anyways ill stop blabbering about Garcia and actually answer the thread question. Im a huge Matthysse fan but when it comes to Herrera im split, I think the fight would be very close and could go either way but saying that Matthysse has power in both hands making a lot more difficult for Herrera and as stated before I still believe that Matthysse has more power than Danny so it could possibly be a factor in the fight or not seeing how Herrera holds that win over Provodnikov without him touching the canvas All in all im going to vote for a Matthysse UD but only to see the poll results out of interest. im honestly split down the middle and think this fight would be great after Matthysse has a comeback win Depending on what weight he plans to fight at heres who id like to see next keeping in mind im considering the promotional issues that exist with toprank and HBO 140 : Viktor Postol - Ukraine 25-0 (10) (current WBC int. champ, rumoured to be fighting Selcuck Aydin next however) Lamont Peterson - USA 32-2-1 (16) (current IBF 140 champion, already lost via TKO3 to lucas however the belt was not on the line in that fight with Peterson winning his next fight against Mandatory Dierry Jean) Selcuck Aydin - Turkey 26-2 (19) Has fought a close fight with Robert Guerrero and Jesus Soto Karass at 147 despite losing, now has moved down in weight and is coming off a win over veteran Demarcus Corley by RTD and whilst its not overly impressive beating Corley at this stage in his career lets look at it like this . . . . the last time he was stopped was against Matthysse but since then he went the distance with Provodnikov and Postol aswell as Bailey, Alexander and Witter amongst countless others (big up Demarcus Corley, boxing needs guys like him although i think its time for him to retire) Cesar Rene Cuenca - Argentina 46-0 (2) Now this guys never been tested let alone left Argentina, but regardless he is undefeated and despite the 2 knockouts he can punch decently when he wants to from what ive seen so hes no Malignaggi exactly. would be a great fight in Argentina (i would say on a sergio martinez undercard but hes fighting cotto next in NYC) 147 - i wont go into as much detail as i have university in like an hour or two so ill make it quick Devon Alexander rematch Kieth Thurman - 50/50 on this one. Thurman has the potential to beat Matthysse Robert Guerrero - been making noise about wanting big fights despite beating NO ONE Luis Carlos Abregu - i think hes still rated in the WBC top 5 and hes a fellow Argentine Randal Bailey (i just saw he won his last fight by DQ because his opponent pushed the ref  gotta see this) Ray Robinson - not that one before anyone says, this is just a last resort if the other fights dont materialise (honorable mention to Jesus Soto Karass but hes had enough tough fights for a while, anymore consecutively and his career will be over)
This is coming from a guy that said Broner knocks out Matthyse if they fight Psssshhhh.. MVC also said Danny would KO Herrera morales style :-(
The guy dont know **** I thought Herrera would lose by a decision but to be knocked out? dudes been in with Alvarado and Provodnikov and gone the distance so he is pretty durable . . . what I didnt expect was Herrera to upset the applecart robbery or not, hes got Garcia running scared :rofl as for Broner stopping Matthysse look at the Malignaggi fight Malignaggi lost a controversial decision to Broner (didnt touch the canvas like in the Judah/Cotto/Cano fights or even the Khan/Hatton bouts where he was stopped on his feet in the 11th) Paulies a durable guy but if Broner couldnt put him down let alone stop him then he has no chance against Matthysse especially after seeing his fellow Argentine whoop Broner :hey
This guy knows how to deal with big punchers, ruslan, Garcia this guy will only lose to better boxers
Styles make fights, Matthysse destroys Herrera, if you wanna do good against Matthysse you gotta have power (Danny) or be slick and have good foot movement (Judah, Alexander) Danny counter punches Matthysse leads, Danny was waiting to time Herrera but couldnt time him coming in, Matthysse will lead Herrera's jab wont stop Matthysse landing body shots and hard punches all fight In no way is Herrera slick enough or powerful enough to make Matthysse think twice, hope it gets made
