Nope GSP's credentials were well known prior to coming to the UFC. He was a mixed martial artist. Brock was not. He was a WWE "Champion".
You mean the UFC... In reality its only one step down from Vince McMahons product. Same meat diffrent gravy.
BJ Penn had 3 fights, 2 in the UFC. He got his shot because of his prodigy status (Mundial champ) and obvious talent. Brock got his for the same obvious talent, plus the fact that he was a huge sell. As for Walker; if he wants to make a fool of himself, fine; if Strikeforce wants to support that, fine again. He honestly can't expect no comments like Dana made though; if he hadn't made them then you would have.
Brock was a national Wrestling Champion with obvious amazing athletic ability. Being that high level of a wrestler, especially when coupled with his crazy size, strength, quickness, general overall athletic ability is obviously going to start him out much higher than your average person. You talk down on the fact that Brock is already Champ... I personally think that it is amazing and that it speaks volumes about just how much of a beast he is. When he is only 4 fights into his UFC career and he has already fought Mir twice, Couture, and Herring... that's quite a damn early resume. To come out of that mix having beat all 3 and becoming Champ... that's incredible. The man is such a monster that people were just talking on here a month ago about how they don't think anyone can really challenge Brock in the UFC. That's amazing considering the talent that they have, and his lack of MMA experience. He is getting better and better. However... I do think that he can be challenged and beat... but you get the picture.
herschel walker has accomplished so much more than dana white could ever in 5 lifetimes. walker is probably a little delusional if he thinks he can hang with any elite HW, but why does dana white have to dis herschel (again what has white ever done?) btw, assuming hershcel has trained for a whiile he could probably beat those two clowns who fought on TUF last week
How can you even say that? Assuming Walker has trained for a while he can probably beat those clowns? That's ridiculous. Those guys have trained. Obviously those guys have been doing this longer than Walker has. I don't care how shitty they looked. They would most likely beat Walker's ass. And White can say how he feels about it. He's speaking out his competition and he's entitled to do so. You don't see the UFC signing near 50 year olds without any experience. That right there in my opinion is an error by Strikeforce. They're signing whoever is a name. What's next? Trish Stratus gets MMA fever and decides she wants to fight Gina Carano? I bet Stikeforce would send her a contract to.
the point is that white should show some respect to an accomplished and amazing athelete no matter what his age, which from what i recall i don't think he did. criticizing strikeforce for the signing is fine i guess if he's trying to point out a safety issue or just trying to make strikeforce look bad (which is what white does with any perceived competition). as for last week's TUF matchup, neither guy showed much experience nor skill for that matter and i would wager the big ex NFLer doesn't have all that much time in. Herschel is supposed to be a black belt for some time and again the guy was a freak of nature even into his 30's (who knows what he's like now but i'm sure he's still a good athlete). From a fan's perspective, the two TUF fighters looked like **** and I wouldn't be too surprised if herschel could beat either or both of them
He can have a black belt, but if he's never used it in any competition, then that black belt means nothing. And we've never seen Herschel Walker kicked, slammed, or punched in his face. I'm sure we'll see what that looks like now:-(
:--( thats obvious (we've never seen herschel in a cage and it's unlikely he'll do anything in MMA). all i'm saying --other than dan white should think before insulting herschel--is that given walker's athletic ability, his black belt training, the fact that he says he's been fighting/training or whatever according to him, even at his advance age he may have shot against last weeks TUF competitor's who looked soo horrible as far as pro UFC level MMA fighters go.
