come on now, tell me youre not that naive. The dude aint really retired, its clearly a publicity stunt to build up the pointless DLH rematch.

Yes, and to me at least its now easier to couch the Cotto criticism, if his heart wasn't in it it wasn't in it.

An amazing man in the ring he was. I have this crazy feeling he's going to come back to fight Cotto, but I give him lots of respect.

I pretty much agree with a poster on the Brit forum, being the skeptic I am. Floyd is covering his back, the stage is all set for him to 'miraculously' come out of retirement for an easy fight like Hatton, whilst this also gives him the perfect excuse to duck Cotto

If he lives up to his word, respect. He was a great fighter, although I've not always been a fan of his matchmaking and personality. I particularly have fond memories of him as a fighter at 130, he was incredible.

Thing is TFFP, every time a relatively young athlete retires people say there is a conspiracy behind it. And more often than not lately, they stay retired. So I give the benifit of the doubt, especially when thinking of guys such as Barry Sanders (just didn't want to play), Ricky Williams (was just a ****ing weird guy), Lennox Lewis (really did walk away after all), etc.

Although he's been in 'semi-retirement' for how long now? If he was that certain he can live without the dolla', if he was that certain he wanted to walk away he would have outright retired

It doesn't inspire confidence that he'll live up to his word, if the right offer is made

What do you think this is gonna do for boxing? I mean if hes really gone he was the face of boxing at least in American, especially when DLH retires at the end of this year. The average joe on the street doesn't even know anybody else. Think this could hurt the sport?

Floyd would still be fighting DLH, he says his heart isn't in the sport anymore, but we should know his heart and love is money at this stage... no way is he going to leave millions in the table... he's just being a great business man looking a for a bigger offer from DLH to bring him back... this stunt would benefit him in all ways, from causing distractions to DLH, getting paid even more, and promoting for Sept... Mayweather knows the amount is too much to let go by and to make that amount ever again in his life would take him some quite while...

If he truly retires fine. He fought plenty of good fighter and built an impressive resume over 5 weight classes. But Floyd is Floyd. He'll be back, and this phony BS is not worth of one of your threads.

I've been a critic of Floyd for his image lately, not his fighting ability.
He's the best fighter on the planet hands down.

If he wants to retire he should do so. His faculties are intact and he's got plenty of $.

I give a fighter a lot of credit for knowing when to get out of the sport, especially with his health intact and being financially secure....but I don't really believe this retirement is real anyway.
