Hey... 3 Reasons To Give Floyd Props If He Is Really Retiring

no argument here. your points are very good, but of course i wish he'd fight the winner of marg/cotto. he has still had a respectable career. it just drives me crazy when peoople try to say he is #1 GOAT. he is barely in the top 20 at best.

 

I'm a big fan, and I agree. You seem to know your stuff when it comes to Floyd. People seem to skip the sucess he had early in his career. He worked his but off to be able to call the shot and bank roll late in his career. Despite all of the personal issues that he had critics attacking him at all time, he worked hard in the training room and the gym and always brought over 100% into each of his fights. props to Prettyboy Floyd AKA Money Mayweather

 

Agreed ... look what it did to Leonard and Hagler ... Ali ... Tyson ... Holyfield ...

When you start fighting you fight for the money ... for the prestige ... the acollades ... once you get all of that - there's no reason to keep going.

 

If it's a legit retirement I can't really complain. Every fighter has the right to decide when he doesn't want to get punched in the face any more. HOwever I doubt it really is. Negotiations with Oscar probably aren't going the way he wants or something.

 

I'm leaning more towards a final showdown with Miguel Cotto. Maybe I'm just in denial and not accepting that the best boxer in our sport is walking away at the top of his game, but PBF's track record precedes him. I think he lays low for a year, lets Cotto get past Margo and maybe DLH or Hatton or some other fighter of note, then comes back to beat Cotto and retire.

 

I don't think that is a likley scenario. Floyd is at the top of his game right now but a year off at his age could be devastating. If he came back and took on a young lion in his prime he would probably get his first loss.

we won't get the cotto fight but hey we will get cotto against margarito, williams, berto, quintana 2 , mosley 2, cintron etc etc
