Simon Kean, 7-0, 7KO's age 27 is the man to watch.

Kean is big, 6'5" 250 pounds, can hit and forces the action. While his defense and speed are not world class, I think with proper management, he can get a title shot by age 30.

He's already moving up to 10 round fights.

    Yea, Simon Kean looks promising.
I read in local press in QC that he's not an angel also, I think he's already been incarcerated and almost went back by violating his parole by breaking his curfew and got in a brawl and threaten to kill someone lol
So he has that natural aggressiveness and toughness that that old school heavies had

I think his next fight is in January at the Bell Centre for the Canadian Heavyweight Championship against a hard punching Nigerian

He's with Camille Estephan's Eye of the Tiger Management, David Lemieux's promoter, who just bought Interbox, so he's in good hands

Kean still needs some skill honing, at least 12 to 18 months before he can take on a top 15 contender

Has some amateur pedigree, physical attributes, in good shape. Yeah definitely someone to follow.

I agree. 1-2 more years before facing a top 20-40 opponent

But he's the best homegrown talent Canada has had a heavyweight since Kirk Johnson.

In the amateurs, Kean wasn't quick enough to reach the top, but his power and durability were noted. He's better suited for the pro game.

Another heavyweight based in Canada but from the Ukraine is Oleksander Telenko. IMO, he's very similar to Wlad Klitschko. A real talent, and if I had to guess with pro under 15 fights would be the next #1 overall in the heavyweight divison, he's my pick. Size, speed, power, and skills are there, and he fights aggressively.

Canada has some other very interesting prospects

    Steven BANG BANG Butler 21yo 154lbs 18-0 15 ko's
    Custio Clayton 29yo 147lbs 10-0 8kos
    Erik BZO Bazynian 21yo 168lbs 14-0 9kos

Plus other local haitian and romanian up and comers

With the household names that we already have and the new generation that's coming, many over her in QC talk about a Montreal "golden age" thats about to start

Yes I've heard about Teslenko but I never had a chance to see how good he is
From Ontario there is also Brandon Cook at 154 30yo 17-0 10kos

In January at the Bell Centre we're gonna see Steven Butler vs Brandon Cook , so thats an intereseting local matchup

I expect in the not so distant future to see Simon Kean vs Oleksandar Teslenko too

Good times ahead for us canucks :))

Looking at Keens wiki... He beat Yoka in 2012 which is impressive, but was starched by an Ecuadorian chap. Could potentially have some chin issues.

Got KOd by this guy: http://boxrec.com/boxer/646375

I had hopes for the Colombian even after his loss to Gibson but he doesn't seem to be taking his pro career seriously.

Not a good sign, but in the fights I saw Kean took a good punch. He's likely bigger now.

Tua was Ko'd in one round in the amateurs. Just saying...

Yeah, he should be given the benefit of the doubt. And the guy who KOd him(Perea) was a pretty good amateur.

Against Atg amateur Savon and Tua was a teenager fighting at 91kgs

I don't see the relevance when this guy was getting starched by bums as a grown man

Let's be honest. Canada doesn't have anyone. We're literally dead in the water when it comes to boxing.

Custio Clayton looks decent, and he's involved in a still viable boxing scene in Montreal.
