You indicated that Marvin Johnson was an all-action fighter. While I agree that he had an all-action style, I don't think most of his fights turned out that way. He either dominated somebody, or they dominated him. In the case of Saad Muhammad, Victor Galindez, and Leslie Stewart, you just had two strong, tough, agressive guys that would both have to be hurt bad before one would lose. To what other fights were you referring when you said Marvin Johnson was an exciting fighter?
I thought the Spinks fight was good, before he had brains blown out. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad's best performance was against him, so there's that to watch. Dunno if you've seen the Emebe fight, but that's awesome. I just love watching that savage left uppercut. Don't really care if the other guys throwing back. Saad fights are where it's at, though.
The vid I saw wasn't even the full fight, and that was a while ago whilst I was drunk. I honestly couldn't tell ya, pall.
none of his other fights really compare with Saad, tho. He did have an underrated uppercut, but my fave punch of his was the over-the-top-from-underneath. Have you seen his fights with Mate Parlov and Charles Williams? were those any good?
Because it was yr typical Marvin Johnson fight against a tough contender. All action. What do you like. Jab. Wait . jab wait. Cmon man. The Emeby and Stuart all Johnsons fights are action packed. Ediie Davis beats Spinks and gets blown out in 5 by Marvin. Again. Watch all the fights. Done question why someone else likes a style. Form yr own opinion.
Emebe was a quality contender back then. Cream rises. Do you understand boxing? Do you even know what you are watching? Or do you have some negative agenda against @George Crowcroft Crowcroft?
Easy Morlord. Kid’s new in town, still learning the ropes. He’s enthusiastic and eager to join the discussion and he’s better off here than hanging out with those general forum types who are mostly soccer hooligans who support one promoter or one country and just want to throw insults from the safety of their keyboards. Young Billy is asking the right questions. The answers will lead him to the good stuff and the greater understandings of the Sweet Science that he seeks.
No, I hate dull fights as much as everyone else. I love the blood baths and the fights with lots of knockdowns. But Davis never beat Spinks, unless you mean he was robbed. I've seen Johnson and Stewart and Spinks, I just haven't seen Emebe. And yes, I do have my own opinion, as you will find it should you have the guts to start another discussion with me.
Yes, I do understand boxing, I've been watching it A LOT for a few years now, and have been exposed since I was a little kid. A lot of the guys I like to watch people have never even heard of they have such a shallow knowledge of boxing. And no, I have no negative agenda against Crowcroft. I got into an interesting yet friendly conversation with him the other day. I appreciated his respectful yet passionate disagreement with me, and he's challenging to debate. I was quickly impressed with him and that's why I've talked to him a few times now. I have already disagreed with him some, but it's been friendly.
Thnx. I am new here, but I'm not new to boxing. I've had plenty to say for years now, and nobody to tell who would appreciate it. But you know, just telling people stuff is no fun, I want to learn what I can, and find out what other people think. There's no intentions coming from me, Worlock; I don't mind disagreeing with anyone all the time, it's ok.
