I just watched the post fight presser, and I know he just went through a tough fight, but I don't like his speech at all.

If I'm part of his team, I think I'd have to tell him to take a few easy fights for the money and call it a day.

I have encountered the same question maybe a year back but until now . . . . I haven't encountered a definite answer. :yep

Maybe it's better that Vasquez undergoes a brain scan or something.

He was slurring a little, not bad, but some before the first Marquez bout, now add a bad night of punishment and then a vicious night of punishment + sparring for both follow up bouts into the spectrum there.

I said all along that Vasquez will be worse off than Marquez, despite Vasquez being the victor of the trilogy. People are saying Marquez is done as a top 122 after those beatings, but realistically he took less punishment than Vasquez did on the simple fact that he can't take punishment like Vasquez due to him having a softer jaw than Vasquez.

Vasquez is going to feel this later on in life much worse than Marquez, I don't even think Marquez has much to worry about, probably about the same as your Barrera and Morales', and they seem perfectly all right.

I'm not sure. I remember Roach said he was worried after the first Marquez fight because he noticed Vazquez was really starting to slur his speech. After two more brutal fights and the training, it's gotta be even worse.

The smartest thing to do would be to walk away RIGHT NOW and not take any more punishment. The second smartest thing would be to take a couple of decent money and winnable fights. Unfortunately, we'll probably see him fight far too long.

    His motor skills?

You seem to be saying that if he can fight he is ok.

Im talking about the end of his career.

I think Vazquez should retire to be honest. He has given us enough, he has a wife and kids to think about.

He would probably need to keep fighting longer to keep his wife and kids secure, but I agree.

He could take some easy fights like Caballero or Ponce, make a couple hundred thousand to a million each and call it day. Those guys really won't be much trouble.

He's coming out of fighting a guy with one of the best offensive arsenals in the sport today with Marquez.

i wanna see him fight Molitor.

Can't wait for Molitor to make a name of himself. He just can't seem the get a decent opponent in the ring against him but he is definately willing and has called out Vasquez/Ponce a long time ago already

Talking about it here is pointless. He will fight on given the fact that he just defeated a pound for pound level guy for the 2nd time in a row. I thought Mickey Ward was slurring after he retired, but you hear him now, its totally different. No one walks away untouched from boxing (except Oscar.)

Caballero and Ponce De Leon don't pose much of a threat. And as you pointed out, Marquez has one of the finest offensive arsenals in the sport. I doubt Caballero and Ponce especially have the tools and timing to connect as much as Marquez.

If Vazquez moved up to 126 or 130, I'd be really worried about him.

I just don't want to see him end up like Wilfredo Gomez. Do you know how he's doing financially?

I didn't hear him afterwards but if his speech is as bad as you all have said perhaps he should retire now. It's a shame for boxing when you have a guy that has given us many wars and he still cannot break the million dollar mark. Both him and RM deserved a mil for those three wars.He might end up like Gatti, he beat Ward but you could hardly understand the guy afterwards.
