A combination of steroids, very thick muscles and overeating. Tua was fat but he had way more muscle than any pre 1980s HW

There is only one answer to that question.

    Lack of self discipline.

245 was too much for him but curiously he had still good stamina. He was perfect at 225

True, with his bone structure & workout regimen he was in the mid 220's at a max. of 5' 10" without being at all overweight. Because he was very heavily muscled.

But then he got more body fat than was good for him.
How much due to genetics & how much a lack of discipline is unknown/
But he should not have been ~ 20 lbs. heavier like against Lewis.
He would have moved better if he was a prime weight, & been able to have a higher workload as against Ike.

    No.

In order to have a remote chance of being great, he would have had to take a leaf out of the Marciano playbook, and get down to something like 210!

Lol no one is naturally 225 at 5”10...got to eat your way there or work out your way there I guess. I would assume when he went against the bigger guys he just assumed he needed to weigh more. Why some fighters do that I’ll never know. Should fight at their best weight all the time.

I would be very interested to see how he would have performed at 200-210 for his career? He wasn’t as much of an animal as Marciano.

why do you manipulate and change the subject at your convenience? The debate was that tua was naturally heavier than tyson and orlin norris. No one said that Tua is better than Tyson

Tua was much wider than marciano janitor, stop the fantasy. Marciano had much more narrow shoulders, smaller thorax and legs. Tua was solid, explosive, fast and had very good stamina at 225 pounds he was perfect.

Tua was not fat in the 220's. He was a bit overweight in the 230's & relatively "fat" in the 240's.
There is also absolutely no evidence he used steroids.
With that very thick bone structure & good-great testosterone levels that level of musculature is quite possible at that body fat.
Guys did not try to achieve it or do much lifting at all-with rare exceptions-until the 1980's.
Check the first link& "bulked: means when you eat a great deal/many times a day, so it represents food in the system.

Ridiculous, 210 is much too light for him! Marciano wouldn't make one of his thighs! Tua is 226lbs here and looks just fine!

In all fairness to Tua weight problems were exacerbated by management problems
causing inactivity and subsequently his motivation.
