The one who doesn't know boxing is the one who openly admitted he doesn't know how fights are made in boxing and that's you.

Floyd had no intention to stay active as he openly stated in the end, he wanted to fight the #1 fighter in the division then move on to fight Oscar(as he always planned) and retire. A mega-fight with Ricky Hatton dragged him out of retirement and a fight everyone has asked for long ago when both were at 140.

Margarito plans to stay and dominate considering this is the very first division he's dominating and only recently was he considered #1 in it. Mayweather already dominated 130 and 135, tried to capture the #1 spot at 140 but Hatton didn't accept the fight, captured the #1 spot at both 147 and 154 and is now retired. I can see why he doesn't have the motivation anymore and just wants big fight, the phase where he needs to fight one contender after another is long gone for him at this point and for obvious reasons if you followed various boxing careers.

 

Exactly. This is why I don't consider him that great of a 147lb fighter. He had no intention on clearing out the division, only to capture the #1 spot whilst it was occupied with a journeyman in Carlos Baldimor. I don't blame him for taking his opportunity, but his fight with Ricky Hatton was somewhat of a farce. Ricky had looked truely awful against Collazo, in a fight that I thought he lost, and didn't belong in the ring with any top 5 147lb fighters. A great 140lb fighter, but he was no Welterweight.

I think Floyd Mayweather Jr should come out of a retirement and prove to us what he has been saying all along, that he is the #1 Welterweight in the world. There aren't any fights out there that he is incapable of winning, but by the same token, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, and Williams are all live opponents.

 

Mutha****ah Cotto had just Beated Zab ****ing Judah! That wasn't a mega fight idiot....The general public barely knew who the **** Cotto was.....

Cotto was supposed to beat Margarito....by that point he had fought to marquee fighters that got people looking at him...If he would've won then he would be mega fight potential....But he got beat in the worst way....So although he's talented and better than most at his weight...In the end the general public now sees him as overrated...U ****ing clown

 

Because that fight, as it proved, was worth a lot more than idiots like yourself thought it was. Wake me up if Margarito ever makes 850k PPV buys his entire career.

The fight was a good competitive fight and a great win to top it off. If Cotto's resume was far better then why wasn't he considered fighter of the year that same year?

In 2007 Cotto fought and beat Judah/Mosley, Mayweather moved up and beat DLH in his first fight at 154 then moved back down and KO'd Hatton who was moving up. Of course for a hating ****** who's posts come straight out of his ass that won't be impressive, I won't be surprised if you say Margarito's resume in 2007 beats all. :rofl
