To me, Foremans comeback seemed like a tragedy waiting to happen. He was hog fat, out for ten years, and with the bald head, appeared even older than his 37 years. At the time, no one at all gave him one chance in a million to achieve any success whatsoever. This includes writers, fans, trainers or other fighters.
He wound up doing better than anyone , except himself , would have ever imagined.

I thought it was just a marketing gimmick.

i only ask this because of the recent speculation of a tyson comeback,i just wanted to compare the views, where would you rank tyson if he unified the division again(which i know is like a million to one shot)?

I was excited about it, and while skeptical, I hoped that Foreman would be able to do something. He got a lot of flack for fighting stiffs that I thought was overdone. In essence, he was starting a whole new career and had to begin at square one. And the proof is in the pudding, it worked.

Foreman, imo, laid out a track for exactly how a comeback after a long layoff should be done. Begin at the beginning and work your way back to the top.

no one truely saw the decline of foreman he just come back from a long retirement.
tyson's whole boxing decline has been gradual but very apparent.

it's a different set of circumstances.

unlike foreman, tyson had let himself go after his retirement, also the reasons for retiring was different. george had spiritual enlightenment and persued being a preacher. mike in his last fight clearly said he could get in shape but dont have it in himself to win.

george's style was a simple but effective style. he was tall, had a very big build, had some good reach on him, his power was able to bail him out and excellent chin.....even after the lyle and ali fights he was considered to be very tough jawed.

tysons was a style dependent on speed, clean counters, hard combinations and incredible head movement. once he couldnt get out of the way of shots. and unable to swarm his small stature and low workrate made him pretty vulnurable.

foreman had unfinished business while mike looked like he was looking for cheques.

    many things.

i think if mike was going to come back he would not be looking for just a pay day because he is not as skint as people make out in fact mike is rather comfortable,i think if he came back it would be to settle "unfinished business"

Foreman wanted to bring Tyson back and have him fight low key bouts then gradually bring him in the spot light again. Foreman even said that the Mcbride fight was a mistake.

:-( Forget about it man.. Tysons done and has been for going on 10 years..The only "unfinished business" he has is losing more brain cells while being pummeled by inferior fightrs..

thats my point hes more or less in the same position as big george ,no one gave him a chance but look what he did,i would prefer to see him against the likes of morrison and bowe since they are both kind of in the same boat
