Hey yo chicos, So Cotto ran from Mosley?!?! Realy?

The same who mock him as running defend Ali as the greatest for his "float Like a butter fly" when a Cuban amateur in the name of Stevenson could've beat him!!!

Cotto said that the last two rounds he didn't stand in cement and trade punches because he had the fight in hand!

They talk as if Mosley is some KO artist that was chasing Cotto going for the "Hail Mary"!!!

 

This statement makes little sense. Mosley has created those KO's in the clutch. Cotto won a close fight, and was smart to stay away and not be stupid.

The one thing I DESPISE about Cotto is when he tries to turn cutie by bouncing on his toes and trying to be defensive. It always come off as a survival tactic. It did Mosely, Margartio, Clottey and Pacquiao.

You're making a case with 2 examples
1 with Mosley vs margarita who he was starching the whole fight only to finish him off.
2. with Mosley vs Mayorga...again with Mayorga ?



Please present a more compelling case!!!

My point was that Mosley is no KO artist!!!

 

The point is idiot, both were late KO's. Mosley carries his power into the late rounds and always has the potential to starch his opponent. Cotto was being smart.

Your statement didn't make sense because you said Mosley isn't some KO artist although he's been known as one of the strongest punchers at lww and welter weight. Add to that, people were questioning whether Cotto could stand up to his power prior to this fight and it was a major accomplishment that he did.

As a matter of fact, you make fun of Mayorga but he has a way better chin than Cotto and definitely doesn't have a paper face.

All that to say, I'm agreeing that Cotto wasn't running and was in fact doing a smart thing. Avoiding a desperate, hard punching opponent in the last round. But your lack of boxing knowledge about Shane Mosley caused you to show your ass.

 

He wasn't running. He had the fight in the bag and took his foot off the gas. That video posted claiming to show Cotto running is ridiculous. If someone is running away from another person, they aren't coming back at said person and engaging.

 

Boxing is the Sweet Science! The Art of hitting and not getting hit. The casual fans enjoy the human piñatas / pressure swarmers boxers, since they think boxing is a Rocky Movie.

 

Thinkwhat you want and you bring out some good points but I still stand by the fact that Mosley is not a KO artist!!!

Is he a damn good boxer ? Yes
Is he a decent defensive fighter? Yes
Can he KO some? Yes
Can he KO all ? No

Mayorga came to the fight terribly out of condition...Mosleys left hook was nothing like the great Pepino Cuevas who was a true KO artist!!!
Mosley was very fortunate that night vs Mayorga because he was getting his ass handed to him by someone that Cotto dominated!!!

I think you might be on the slow side. Mosley landed and threw more punches than Mayorga in their fight. Connect percentage, 36% for Mosley to 12% for Mayorga. With power punches, the deficit was even worse. So Mosley wasn't "getting his ass handed to him".

margarita was starched the whole fight and Mosley finished him off as expected...Mayorga was obviously out if condition and Mosley was fortunate to catch him with a left hook Hail Mary fashion!!!

Bottom line...he never hurt Cotto throughout the fight so to claim he was going to KO him in the final two rounds is a nut hugger real stretch!!!

No he was using angles and laying 3-4 punch combinations on Mosley who usually complains after a loss, but I remember he even approved of Cottos performance. Cotto might of ran abit for the last 2, but he was far ahead on his way to a sure win.

 

He won by a round in a fight a few on ESB at the time had a draw or Mosley win.

He didnt run. He had to change tactics because Mosley was coming on strong and he had to switch strat. No way was he cruising.
