Seems like he should be inline to have a go for the title..does anyone have a clue about whether Herbie will ever be given a title shot or will he be left out on the sidelines for another year?

One-time heavyweight destroyer (of the dancing variety) Herbie Hide is lined up to face Moscow mauler Denis Lebedev for the vacant European cruiserweight title in Germany in the New Year.
Hide, a pro since 1989, is all of 38 years of age but has finished so many of his fights early (a whopping 43 of his 52) he might still have something left in the tank at 14st 4lbs. Since dropping down from heavyweight in 2006, Hide has reeled off 13 straight wins and enjoys good backing in Germany where the muscled Norwich man is now based.
The unbeaten Lebedev is no easy opponent, though. Last July in Manchester we saw what he could do when he despatched former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli in three brutal rounds at the MEN Arena. Lebedev, a chiselled-looking, cold-looking southpaw, thumped away to the body to lower Maccarinelli’s hands and then finished the job with a series of big left hands, pounding Maccarinell’s right eye shut and bloodying his nose in the process. Big Enzo was punched to a standstill.
Powerful, deceptively quick and with good upper body movement, Lebedev has now won his last five by stoppage and at 18-0 (13) enjoys plenty of youth and freshness on Hide. Yes, Hide is fast, fit and always dangerous (although he boxing more, these days) but the same can be said of Lebedev and I fancy him to emerge as last man standing in this one.

That would be great. I like Erdei after the last performance against Frag.

Hide's with Arena-Box, at least he always boxes on their shows on Eurosport.

To be honest Hide should stop fannying around and fight for a world title before it is too late. The last I heard he was the number 1 contender for the WBC title, but he's just fought a couple of bums since then in the past 6 months.

Hide should be number 1 contender for the WBC he was supposed to fight Godfrey 2 or 3 times Godfrey pulled out of all of them. That was for the number 1 spot. I think he has to wait on Eredi against that Polish bloke that fragomeni just about beat.

There was an article on this a while back. News came out of the WBC summit that Hide had to have a final eliminator (possible even two fights with 4 men identified as contenders for the mandatory spot?) before getting his shot. I've had a look through the archive but can't see it. Don't remember the details or who the names were but remember thinking it sucked after they'd previously said he would be the next manadatory challenger.

Hide is currently down as INT. champ but no.2 contender . . .
