Good, I think Roman Gonzalez should cherry pick him and drag him up to Super Fly.:naughty2: He and his team seem out of touch enough to make that terrible mistake.

Oshhhhhhhh, failing at the scales is always a disappointment, no matter how hard you try, it's unprofessional. With that said, these young Japs are eating up divisions like it's Mexican beef... wait that's wrong... like chocolate brownies? It always looked like Higa's about to outgrow his class, too bad it happened on the scales...

Now, I can't root for a guy having an undeserved advantage, but I'm still fascinated to find out if he can put away the tough and rugged, albeit not world class Rosales, who can take some and give some back. If Higa can get past him, supaflies have the perfect replacement for Inoue. Good times, though a slightly bad show of sportsmanship by ex-champ Higa.

Well, maybe that's harsh. Maybe it's not possible for him any more.

Here's where the Japanse Boxing Commission's commitment to the sport is tested. Higa is nowhere near the serial PED & weight offender like Luis Nery, but that fella has been banned for life, so one would expect at least a very serious warning, a fine and a suspended sentence. You can't have it both ways.

Nery, like any visiting fighter, was given an immediate 1 year ban for failing to make weight (same ban given to Tapales, Hernandez, Jaro, Solis and a number of other notable names). His life tine ban was due to the unprofessional conduct the weight failure, the drug test and other issues (i believe thaf included being seen enjoying some kind of dessert in the lead up to the second fight).

Higa is the 4th Japanese fighter to have missed weight in the last 5 weeks or so. Another was Coach Hiroto who was punished by his gym. The JPBA are going to speak with the JBC about the general issue in the coming weeks.

The Hiroto story was pretty notable if you've not read up on it

Guevara seems to be out of the Gonzalez fight and Gonzalez will now likely face Felipe Orucuta. :chuck:

I think the reason for Higa failling to make weight, is the short period of time he had. The Fuentes fight was roughly 2 months ago.

For selfish reasons I do hope the fight goes on, but a KO would leave bad taste in ppl's mouth after Nery-Yamanaka. These boxers are called professionals for a reason, and it's their responsibility to recognize in due time it's a certainty that they can't make the contracted weight. Two pounds makes a lot of difference between little men, so Higa is in a pretty bad spot, while Rosales doesn't deserve facing one of boxing's biggest punchers with a cheat weight.

    Maybe it shouldn't happen...

Could be a week to forget for Yoko Gushiken as Yoshimitsu Kimura lost his unbeaten record these past few days

Wasn't everyone around here super high on him almost as if he was the second coming of Edwin Valero? Especially after his recent destruction of the previously sturdy Fuentes.

TBF still high as a kite on him, and this makes him move up in weight, which is a good thing. Can still be very disappointed in him not making weight.
