I'm shocked its been years and two trainers since you were with Kermit and yet you seem to be unable to let this **** go. Why not just write a book and be done with it and yet you email me when I do an interview with Kermit that had nothing to do with you whatsoever. I've been as cordial as I can here and in emails with you. In fact, that email you sent me was all **** and vinegar and I had to calm you down. You're clearly the guy with the problem here. I've been busy as all get out today with two workouts that bookended my day which started at 430 AM, a media session with Yohnny Perez, and a story to write. When I talked to Lance Pugmire who broke the Kermit saying No story, my first thought was this thread and you. Then I came to my senses. The right thing to do for a writer or journalist is to now go and 1) get Kermit's rebuttal and then 2) find an third source, unconnected to either camp or the doctor to confirm. But to me, off the strength of Lance and writer Robert Morales, I buy the doctor's story. Both writer's know him Dr. Wallace and vouched for him. Add in the history of Kermit and you get a guy who looked for a way out. I don;t think he dove out looking for that way out. But I do believe he stayed down knowing the three rounds rule was in effect OR he simply allowed his mind to rule him again and let himself believe he was more hurt than he was. Either way, he got out of the fight. Why I flagged that video: because I have respect for all fighters. If you read my stuff, I never use the term "bum" or "*****" or "Tomato can" or anything else to denigrate the fighters I cover or don't As you should know Joe, regardless of a guy's character OUT of the ring, it takes a special person to get in there and risk their health and safety. Some brave internet warrior calling any fighter a "*****" like that who wouldn't do it to a fighter's face deserves to have his **** wrecked. As my co-host on Leave it in the Ring said to me tonite: the internet is superpowers for pussies. That guy got treated like just what he is by me. Joe, I've been screwed over by a lie or three in this game myself. But like I man who is secure in who i am, I get over it, learn from it, and don't go out of my way to make threads or email anyone who covers that guy and accuse them of enabling that person. I certainly wouldn't do it before I first made an attempt to get to know the person first. In short, I don't behave as you have and are. Someone ****s me over, they simply are no longer part of my world. When the news broke, my first instinct and thought was, I'd like to talk to Joe and let him know how I feel about this. Your first instinct? To send me a PM telling me "I told you so" and to let me know how "Kermit pulled my strings, too." Grow up, man. Either sue him for what you think he owes you, write a tell all, or get over it. That's what a man would do. Face him and tell him. A couple weeks ago, I was on a radio show with Travis Kauffman, who I am slated to interview soon. he had the same story to tell and what I offered him was a chance for Marshall or you and Kermit to come on Leave it in the Ring, a show I co-host and air your grievances once and for all. Not to make great radio. Not to air dirty laundry. But to perhaps find some peace for all of you. I stand by that and the offer is still open. As to the guy who called me a POS and wants me to wrap my car around a tree: Really, man? It's just boxing, man. Think about what you wrote. Think about how little importance in the grand scheme of things this sport is. And then go back and realize that you wrote that to another human being. Honestly, I could give a flying **** what you think of my writing. I have zero time for negativity in my world. But really, you should check yourself. That's some horrible **** to write to someone. My feelings aren't hurt in the slightest. You're not the first guy to ask me to kill myself, threaten to kill me, or hope for the worst for me bases on my opinions on the sport of boxing. If I feel anything, it's sorry for you and hope you get better. Try going outside in the sun sometime and interacting with people in real life. It'll do you wonders of good. Take it easy, folks. It's been educational.
Are you insane? Montoya claimed he had more than a few sources who claim Nevada does'nt provide fighters with tape and gauze for the wrapping session........ Why in hell would a journalist feel the need in a situation where they claim Nevada does not provide gauze and tape a secret? Montoya is claiming that Nevada does not provide fighters gauze and tape. If say Shane Mosley or any fighter were to tell a journalist, "thats not true, Nevada does not provide gauze and tape. We brought our own Gauze and tape for the DLH rematch." Why would a journalist feel the need to supress information from a credible sourse, especially if what he was saying was fact?????? If Montoya has credible sources to refute what the head of the commision has said as far as what they provide the fighters, its his job as a journalist to shoot down when someone in the business, especially a commision spokesman tells a lie. Why would anyone not want to be quoted if they knew that Nevada did'nt provide gauze and tape to the fighters???? Montoya, as far your sources for Nevada not providing guaze and tape, spill it, or give a reason why you cant?
I'm waiting for the answer to why Cintron had to face Margarito three weeks after having hand surgery. Haven't actually seen the fall/dive, but it seems this board isn't any different from any out there on the web when it comes to bandwagon mentality. That or the desire to know more spilled beans overrides mental alarm bells. It took me a lot of time scanning thru 26 pages, only to know a handful of things: Kermit folds easily, manipulates the people around him, has a Jin Mosley type wife. Of course all of these coming from a fired manager/trainer. I'm not even trying to say all I've read might not all be gospel, but it would actually be better if Kermit Cintron can defend himself or at least confirm these allegations here.
Hey, Gabriel, how many fighters have you trained and brought up to world status again ? Since you seem to know the sacrifices involved it would be nice to know. Also you don't believe Kermit purposedly flew out of the ring ? Isn't the task of a journalist to objectively report what he sees ? Read what Graham Houston wrote (he's been in this business much, much longer than you or anyone else): This is what hapened and this is what you should report. But i know you won't; somehow it seems you're hell bent on bending reality so it fits your wrong prediction of a Cintron victory. All your questions in these posts were just pretexts leading to you attempting taking the moral high ground (on which basis ? You being a reporter ?) Did you come to lash out ? You critiscize some morons here yet you bring yourself down to their level ? As a member at maxboxing for the last 6 years i expect better from you. Also i have to wonder if you're unable to correctly do your present job, how would you fare as a trainer ?
Lol. Stop crying man, you made some good points though. When I said "you should wrap your car around a tree", I meant figuratively leave the business of being a boxing writer, because you are not objective and therefore your opinion is worse than Max Kellerman's and Max is the lowest of the low when it comes to boxing analysis, without peer as an incompetent. I do agree, calling a guy a bum, like Conditioner/Pastore did, is disgraceful. Particularly when alot of the bums are sparring partners for his fighters or actually fighters he trains or co-managers. Taking in consideration that these fighters have families and train hard, even to lose, makes the comment even more disgraceful. I don't like Cintrons lack of character but from watching Kauffman corner Cintron and hearing Kauffman's interviews he comes across as a slimey, dishonest thug type guy. So I think it was wise for Cintron to drop Kauffman and Pastore for that matter. Pastore mentions he and Kauffman guided Cintron to beat T.Reid and E.Ortiz. Those guys were tough but unskilled and out of boxing as we speak, so to mention they were top 10 fighters when he beat them is a joke. Cintorn looks MUCH better technically now, as he showed in outboxing Angulo and Williams for that matter, until he dove out of the ring. So Cintron is still weak-minded but under a MUCH better trainer and team and it shows.
Well first of all Mr. Montoya. Saying I told you so was meant in a joking manner. I take no pleasure in seeing that there is yet another person out there that has put themselves out there on Kermits behalf only to find out that it was all in vane. My sincere apologies if it came across poorly. My honest reaction was well maybe the guy will finally understand what Kermit is all about. I fell for the same act you did. Kermit comes across as a very genuinely likable guy. That's what sucks you in. Normally a scumbag is a scumbag. easy to spot, and avoid. it's not like that with Kermit. He hides it well. Look at the HOLY warrior Evander Holyfield. Mr. god this, and god that. with 13 children out of marriage, linked to ped. You just never know. If you ever get the chance talk to Matt Goldstein about Kermit and I. Kermit is often considered the first boxing star born of the internet. I started approaching fightnews and boxingtalk when Kermit was like 7-0. I got to know Matt through reading his stories and exchanging emails. I recognized early the power the internet could have in a fighters career, and Matt seemed like a likable guy. So Marshall and I granted Matt full access to every camp. In fact when we prepared for Teddy Reid. Matt was invited to stay in the Ali camp for a week. Matt was always with us, and invited to join us anywhere we went. He made highlight videos of Kermit's KO's. Something which required many hours of time on his behalf. he did countless stories, and interviews. He did a lot of good for Kermit. He was Kermits friend, and one of his biggest fans. When Kermit, Marshall, and I went our separate ways that also spelled the and of Matts relationship with Kermit. Why? because Matt still kept a close friendship with us. Matts reward for being a loyal friend and helping make Kermit a star was for Kermit to verbally berate Matt in front of a group of Matts peers after being stopped by Margarito the second time.
if you were to ask me about this story again in 20 yrs... everything I have said would remain the same. WHY? Becuase its the truth, and the truth doesnt change. As for Kermit. Would you expect the kind of person that has done the things he has done to those that helped him most to be the kind of man that would own up to his mistakes? Of course not. If he was a man of character then none of this would have happened.
Yeah I to found that a bit odd. We pay to watch HBO, and how many times have they ****ed us with **** like the Cintron fight, or putting terrible fights on PPV with even worse under cards. Apparently Mr. Montoya found the guy on the video to be offensive with his comments. Whatever the case the video sure gave us a birds eye view of kermit diving out of the ring.
You keep saying things like "get Kermits rebuttal" and "sue him" and "face him" First off what do you expect Kermit to say? Yeah I told them I couldn't continue. Dude do you really not get it yet? NOTHING is Kermits fault. Everything bad that has happened to him in boxing is because of Marshall, head butts, hand injuries, loaded gloves, doctors, journalists, and of course myself. He is not responsible for anything. As for facing him... at one point I had planned on knocking his teeth out the back of his head. That is until he had his lawyer make me aware that he would take legal action if I confronted him. Bottom line is he is a talented guy with the heart of a lamb, and the character of a turd. Do you really expect to ask him that question and have him answer "yes, I flung myself out of the ring on purpose, and I stayed down on purpose because I felt I was up on the cards." The kind of person that would own up to there mistakes is not the kind of person that would do the kind of things Kermit routinely does in his career, and life. He tried to blame the Doctor for what happened, and much like myself the Doctor didn't want to bare the blame for Kermit's actions. Are yo ugoing to write the Doctor an email an tel him to explain himself? That this can't be true because Kermit says so? Do you think this is all a coincidence? Come on man!
Unfortunately due to Montoya's actions, I was unable to view the video. Seems like a typical unobjectively arrogant boxing writer.
Actually I did the exact opposite of what that guy was doing. I used my real name in that thread as I do everywhere except Doghousboxing where I started as a poster with an alias. Everyone there knows its me by now. I called the guy out for discussion. Unlike Joe, the guy has no balls and wouldn't respond until the very end where he said "this is the internet so anything goes homie" and some bull**** about how he wouldn't be scared to say it to a fighter's face. So I did what I did, told I who i was and how I felt about his lil video and then owned up to it in my column which (and I am not bragging just stating a relevant fact) is read all over the world. See? I made an action and owned up to it for better or for worse. Steve Kim that very morning gave me **** about it. And I stand by what i did. Nothing ***** move about it. I felt a certain way, I acted and took responsibility.
The video of the fight is online. The vid that got flagged is not some Zapruder film. Its just an HD big tv version of the jump. And it was in slo mo. Watching the actual fight would help. Get cable or learn to steal streams. Jesus.
But this is a site for fans. And most fans can manage to see past the bull**** and formulate an opinion for themselves. What you did is deny people that opportunity. I'm sure there are many people here that would not have agreed with the editor of that video, but now thanks to you, they will never have the opportunity.
