Can't see the video, but I remember watching it. If he does look like he's jumping it's probably because 1) Momentum was taking him in that direction 2) He probably saw that sharp machine and instinct takes over to jump away from it. If he hit the corner of that machine, it could have been really bad. With that said, I've been in worse. I remember getting my collar bone snapped playing rugby and I didn't even think about quitting. It was the adrenaline. I didn't see anything in Cintron's fall that would hurt a boxer who has trained to take a body shot. His head didn't hit, etc. Seemed like he had a little bit of quit in him. On the opposite side though, why would he quit since neither fighter landed any clean shots? Maybe he just wanted a paycheck and thought he had the win (I had Cintron up one round). Either way, I'm becoming less and less of a Cintron fan especially after getting a gift draw against Martinez. Karma is a biatch.
Dan is dreaming about a Manny or Floyd fight. It will never happen. I'd say Manny takes a blood test night of the fight before either fight with Williams happens. Maybe he will fight Martinez again. Most likely, they will sit on the shelf waiting for another HBO date. I say do the rematch. What's the worst that can happen? Kermit sets himself on fire?
Please......whether its Bob Arum or the head of the NSAC saying that Nevada provides the fighters wrapping material, this was a big statement and big news when it was brought out and said...... ......you are going to sit there at your keyboard and tell me none of you boxing journalist have the professionalism to properly investigate whether what the head of the Nevada commision said was true???? Man, all it takes is to question a few fighters that have fought in Nevada and ask them if when they fought there, Nevada provided them the wrapping materials as has been made public.......its not very hard at all and this type of a simple question you dont even have to get there permission to quote them. If you use your common sense, you would insinuate that there are at least a few proffesional journalist still left and it would be those that did there follow up homework and reported if what the head of the NSAC said was untrue....... .....to date, we have not seen any journalist refute what was said in regards to Nevada providing wrapping material to the fighter.......so you would think that what the head of the NSAC said was absolutely true. My God Montoya, you're a journalist?atsch:-( ......and I wonder why there are'nt enough boxing journalist who are hard on Manny Pacquiao for not doing the fair thing and submitting to WADA testing..... ......there you have it, we have guys like Montoya disguised as journalist.:?
Are you a pro or amateur fighter? Have you worked as a journalist? Judging by your name I;d say you're the only qualified to speak on Cintron's jump as Divac is the King of Flops but other than that, if you aren't either of the first things I asked, I got nothing for you. Keith told me they provide materials. I have heard Bob say it. I've talked to three guys who have worked in Vegas, trainers all, and to a man they say they were never provided materials with which to wrap their fighters hands. Now we get into he said, he said. A lot of sites would just print that. Me? I go by the rule that you need either a) corroboration from an unconnected third party or 3) a smoking gun (i.e video of this not happening on a few occasions.) I have neither right now so I'd rather be right if/when I ended printing what I find than first.
You have trainers that have told you that its untrue that Nevada provides the wrapping materials, and none of them are willing to have their names quoted in an article???? This is what a journalist does.......If I was a journalist and any credible trainer had told me that Nevada does not provide tape and guaze, I'd be on the phone with those trainers telling them that I'm about to do a story and quoting what they had told me. You could write for example, "Head of the NSAC say's that they provide tape and guaze to fighters. True????" .....and then you would go on to quote credible sources telling you otherwise. You said it yourself, you would need the coaberation from an unconnected third party....any fighter or trainer would be that neutral third party and you're claiming you have a few and then contradicting yourself by saying in this last post that you dont????? Which is it?
Dude, I've been down this road before. I'm not going to get into an endless argument with you about how I do my job. I have my reasons for not printing it just yet. In the end, you'll know why.
You were right earlier when you said you should have never mentioned it. .....and you should'nt have if you were unwilling to provide the sources you claim were credible. Kind of makes you look like a damn liar does'nt it? The truth goes a long ways man......... If your sources were not credible enough, all you had to do is say it......no real reason to hide it.:-( I'm sorry, but an interaction like what I had with Montoya, knowing he's a boxing journalist but coming off as looking no better than a scum polititician, really disappoints.:-(
Given that he actually works in the industry, maxboxing, which is a pretty major boxing website, Id say that he has a lot more credibility in what he says over you. Whilst he actually interacts with officials, promoters, trainers and fighters...you spend your days here sucking off JMM although there's not much of that at the moment.
There are a couple of points about the "jump" 1) It really does appear as if he springs off his left leg to glide through the ropes, whether that is true or not I don't know. 2) The fall doesn't seem to be bad, he gets kind of caught by two people and is then lying on the table holding his head. Later he claims he had the wind knocked out of him. For a moment he is stationary on that table, and then the camera switches and he's rolled off onto the floor? That is seriously weird, he kind of forced himself to fall to the floor. 3) If that would have been Paul Williams, Paul would have been up and back in that ring before the 5 count. 4) He says he told the doc he needs a minute? When? The camera is right in his face and we just see him with his head down. Let me tell you something, If Kermit is claiming he landed on his back and got the wind knocked out of him, I've done that before when I fell off a ladder, you cannot speak, and are gasping for breath. I could barely breath for about two minutes, your lungs shrink. If it was that bad, you couldn't turn to the doc and say "give me a minute doc!" you'd be in agony. 5) He makes absolutely no attempt. Zero attempt to continue fighting. He says the doc told him to stay still and not move (the doc has now said this is a lie, and we have no reason to doubt the doc). If he wanted to fight, and like he said he felt fine, he could of just gotten up. A real warrior who knows he is okay would have just gotten up and said doc I'm fine. 6) He doesn't seem to care... until.. the scorecards get read out? Bottom-line is this guy is a joke and it was an absolute farce. I watched this **** in the early hours in the UK and have to say the commentary was golden.
You likely dont even have a clue what the hell we were discussing. Anyone that works for Maxboxing is credible?:nut Take a read on our exchanges and find out what its about before you come in here like a clown criticizing.
.....and that was in Vegas was'nt it? It was in 2005......I'd like to know if the NSAC made a move to provide fighters tape and gauze at some date after that.......and since when if ever, has the NSAC provided fighters tape and gauze????? This is something that as a boxing fan, you would like to hear publicized......but like I said earlier, journalist today want to be fed the news, they dont want to go out, do thier homework, and find the truth.
I've read the whole thread moron. Dont get your panties in a twist cos you know I'm right. I didn't say he was credible, I said he has more credibility in his claims than you do. You are assuming something, he is stating something based on what he has been told by trainers/fighters. Why would he lie about it?
