I think people were expecting what they got when they put Ward and Gatti together since both had been in previous fights of the year and liked to rumble. The Barrera Morales trilogy was highly anticipated. After the first one, people had high hopes for the Vazquez vs Marquez series. I also seem to recall HBO trying to make a fight of the year by matching Rios and Alvarado who had just been in some action fights.

    Margarito vs. Cotto 1
Pacquiao vs, Marquez 1,2 and 4
Barrera vs. Morales 2,3 (first wasn't expected to be great)
    Pacquiao vs. Cotto
    Corrales vs. Castillo 1
Rid**** Bowe vs. Holyfield 1,2 and 3
Mike Tyson vs. Razor Rudduck 1 and 2
Mikkell Kessler vs. Carl Froch 1 and 2

and of course Micky Ward vs. Arturo Gatti. Their 2nd and 3rd fights were good too.

Most recently, i'd say a few Froch fights lived up to expectations, namely the Kessler battles. Also the first Groves one lived well up to expectations, that will go down as one of the classics, a shame that it ended the way it did. The second fight put to bed some of the questions.
Khan against Maidana lived up to expectations and was exciting from start to finish.

    Older
    - Holyfield v Bowe fights were epic
    - Hagler v Hearns, Hearns v SRL, Duran v SRL, Duran v Hagler
