Calzaghe, Mayweather and Manny never get tired, and they focus on roadwork and high intesity cardio, however some athletes can't discipline themselves to do it, i believe, if J. Taylor would have focused more on this it would have helped his career!!! Some athletes don't naturally have good stamina but, if focus is put to maximize what u have naturally, it can improve greatly!!! Sometimes u have to go 150%, so u can perform 100% readiness for fight night, after reading up on stamina that;s just my conclusion!!!

it is tough watching Taylor. he has so many gifts as a fighter but one of the lowest stamina's I have ever seen. He was already tired by 6 and he had not even been throwing that many punches. can you imagine if he had Margo or Calzaghe's endurance?

I think Taylor's conditioning is ok...good but not great. The problem I see is that his defense sucks! He doesn't keep the right up to protect against the left hook and he can be hit easily with every punch in a fighters arsenal.

He could get away with it when he was fighting smaller men and light hitters like Winky Wright and Cory Spinks but against true middles and super-middles he has big problems. He needs to either improve his defense or retire.

But is Taylor lazy in training? Does he not do enough roadwork?

He might do enough, but just isn't born with great stamina. And he doesn't know how to relax in the ring. He's jittery.

A guy like Carlos Monzon could smoke a pack or two a day in camp and still go a strong 15. He was born with great stamina and knew how to relax in the ring.

Where as some guys like Taylor and Oscar De La Hoya have had their issues with stamina, despite probably having trained hard and weren't chain-smoking drunks. They're less relaxed in the ring and probably just aren't blessed with naturally great stamina.
