But it goes back to the thread question. I give Lennox zero credit for the win, it was always going to happen but it was worthless on his resume.

I was a big Larry Holmes fan great jab, boxing IQ but seeing him mentioned the one fight of his that really sticks out is when just did what he wanted against a totally over the hill Ali.

It was a big $ fight for him but anyone around then (I was) no one gave him any credit after.

A little spin on the OP as well a little before my time but when Joe Bugner beat Henry Cooper by 1/4 of a point, virtually no one in the UK gave him any credit print, radio, TV or punters!

21 year old HW beats a national institution, thus the dye was cast for Joe in the UK, unfairly!

They said in the broadcast that to make weight Chavez only ate 1000 calories that week, not day, but week leading up to the fight

I don't give Leon Spinks much credit for beating Muhammad Ali. He beat a shell. And the shell even managed to come back and win the rematch. Among Lineal Heavyweight Champions, Leon belongs at the bottom of the pack, or very close to the bottom. IMHO, of course.

To me, it was more of an exhibition than a fight.

I give Joey Maxim credit for his win over Ray Robinson, but many do not.

It was over 100 degrees. Robinson faded and finally retired on his stool.

My belief is you have to credit Maxim for pacing himself while Ray spent too much energy. You have to adapt to the conditions of the fight and Maxim did it better.

As Maxim said, ‘there wasn’t no air conditioning in my corner.’

Man, that was prob the saddest fight I’ve ever watched. Roy Jones has just got knocked out in his fight prior and agreed to this fight anyway. They couldn’t agree on their pay cut so in the end they decided it would be a winner take all format, im not sure if Jones even got paid. It was an extremely negative fight where Jones simply had nothing left and Hopkins resorted to dirty tactics then had the cry baby face when Jones did the same thing. I pretty much disregard all of Jones fights after the concussions he got from Tarver and Johnson.

I give Michael Spinks tons of credit for beating Larry Holmes twice and snatching his 0. You could argue Holmes won the 2nd one but what Spinks did was historic. The lineal Light Heavyweight champion dethroning the lineal Heavyweight champion.

I remember that fight and build up clearly. This was when Haye was talking his **** and claiming he was going to kill the Klitscko brothers. Audley was thought to be a test at Heavyweight for Haye being a former Olympic gold medalist and all and folded like a lawn chair when Haye hit him in a fight where Harrison did absolutely nothing. It was so bad some people say it was fixed.

It's mostly the WAY he won that 1st fight
He looked more like some awkward clown than anything approaching an ATG. And he lost that 2nd fight by 3 points minimum imo. He never once hurt Holmes, while he himself got hurt several times.

And, for the record, this is coming from a HUGE fan of light heavyweight Michael Spinks.

Pretty much nobody at the time was at all impressed by his performance in that first Holmes fight, and the majority thought he lost the 2nd.
