unlike a lot of people i rate oscar very highly h2h at 135/40. You're probably right about his WW legacy as well. I always think that he stopped improving after a point. the old bloodthirsty hoya was awesome IMO, when he got rich and famous so fast it was almost expected that he'd fade in technique and intangibles.... Oscar-Tszyu is a dream fight, agreed.

iron chinned and he fought more top guys than pretty much any fighter in the last 20. i'll die a fan.

From the Rafael Ruelas fight in '95 at 135 up to the Miguel Angel Gonzalez fight in '97 at 140 (the run being Ruelas - Hernandez - Leija - Tyson - Chavez - Gonzalez) he really was one of the very best fighters of the past 20 years or so.

You must be hitting the crackpipe again Mr. Bill. You dont rank a fighter how he loses once hes shot, his financial position, or what he accomplished as an amatuer.
Safe to say their accomplishments are somewhat comparable. I think Jones was the more talented fighter overall, but DLH holds his own.

To be fair, DLH also fought for a long time after he lost a step and moved up. His fall was less dramatic(finishing fights on his feet apart from Hopkins) but Hoya relied on his physical talents almost as much as Jones Jr. in his own way.

Some fighters completely fall off a cliff when their shot. Jones is one of them as was Terry Norris for example. Still you cant rank a guy higher for losing better once their shot.

We absolutely do that a lot though. Look at how Hopkins, Ali, Moore, Fitzsimmons, Louis, Pep, Greb, Langford, Robinson, Duran, get boosts from their accomplishments far past their best. I can see why you'd be against that though.

Well that took a full day and only my p4p top 50 and hw top 30 are finalised. If all the active fighters retired today i'd have jones in at 26. I still rate oscar quite highly because I think he won almost all of his prime fights and avenged his only loss, however all in all I have him down at 35.

It's strange our concept of best weight. I actually agree, oscar in his two fights at 140 was supreme and imagine him beating a young tzyu, a prime mitchel and judah it isn't past any realms of realism at all. Same with jones I think he'd be his best at smw. Pac probably at 140. It's strange how these guys can look legendary at a weight the quickly grow out of. Or sometimes even the opposite, hearns looked a monster at 147 yet even greater at 154.

It still feels weird factoring these kind of things into a ranking but I guess that's the difference between picking up the ring's top 100 list and doing your own research.

Thankfully due to the nature of my job I have a lot of time now until september so I have plenty of time to redo my lhw, mw, ww and lw lists.

I know yeah it's come a long way from having robinson and leonard 1 and 2 lol.

As long as it never resembles frank's list i'll be happy, but if I ever produce a list trying to justify orlin noris as a top ten atg I want the mod's here to ip ban my arse lol
