And lets face it, even though he has a better run in his last few fights, its really too late for Marquez to overtake Manny now. He wont be around for longer than a couple of years max, not enough time or indeed physical condition to build a better legacy.

At that time Manny was nowhere near a true welterweight . He weighed in 144 pounds .

Not to mention He went to war with a dangerous Margarito that night , the Margarito in that fight would give ANY fighter from (140-154) problems and most likely beat most of them .

I'll say it one last time because i will not continue to repeat myself . Its a respectable victory

I had no idea 144 meant you weren't a true welter. Poor Tommy Hearns...weighing in at 145 in his prime. He was so overmatched.

And yeah that Margarito was so dangerous he was running from Garcia. And got destroyed in his fight before that.

Now we are getting into technicalities. Margs entered 2010 as the #6 WW, but he was suspended for a year and was removed from his ranking prior to the Garcia fight because of that very rule. While you are factually correct to say he was "unranked" , its not correct to say he was not regarded as a top 50 fighter.

When Margs/Pac was signed, he was only a few months removed from a ranking he didn't lose in the ring. And the Margs/Pacman fight moved Manny to the #1 WW spot. Why? Because it was deemed to be a fight between top WWs...just happened one weighed in over 147. This was not a meaningless fight rather you personally agree or disagree. Pacman's standing as a WW was enhanced because he dominated the former #1 WW Champion who had only just lost his top 10 ranking because of a suspension.

    The Ring's official statement:

However, the editorial board viewed Pacquiao’s ability to dominate Margarito even though he was well under the 150-pound catch weight as an accomplishment that enhanced his standing in the welterweight division, where THE RING ranked him No. 2, behind Floyd Mayweather Jr., prior to the Margarito fight.

Margarito was 1-1 at junior middle when Pacquiao fought him.

Margarito had looked like sh*t in his previous bout before Pacquiao and had gotten absolutely destroyed in the fight before that.

Margarito hadn't beaten anyone of note since Cotto.

    Applaud 'em.

The one guy Margo beat, after being caught, was a nobody. He lost to everyone else. Margo is dudu without concrete.

Yet these newbie fans have deluded themselves into believing it was some sort of a solid win because they actually believe whatever the media tells them. B-b-but...the Ring said he was still good even though he hadn't looked good in years!

Now you see, this is actually fair criticism of Margo. There's always going to be a question of how much of his success can be contributed to the wraps.

    Its not even close

Nearly all Mannys wins are over shot or weight drained former greats

The ONE amazing win he has is over Barrera first time, and thats it

He made JMM come in at disadvantage 3 times

    He ducked Floyd

How the **** can anyone say this cowardly needle ducking ***** is better then JMM

I've done said I have nothing more to say to you, we've both expressed our viewpoints clearly and there's nowhere else to go so I'm not sure why you want to keep trying to get my attention with petty insults. If imagining me as a newbie brainwashed fan helps you sleep at night, all the more power to you. Though I will add you are the one coming off childish.

If you are truly a Mayweather fan as others are claiming, you'll find I was one of the few that defended his victory over Cotto as a great achievement. Nobody wanted to give Mayweather credit for similar reasons, citing Cotto was washed up and looked like **** in his last few fights and his Ring rating was dubious. Yet I will maintain Cotto looked as good as he ever did against Mayweather and was outboxed by the smarter and more dynamic fighter.

Your whole second paragraph is of little relevance to me. I'm very fair when it comes to assessing fighters. And because I'm fair, I'm not ready to give Manny Pacquiao credit for fighting a name. And as far as I'm concerned, that's all Antonio Margarito was at that stage of his career. Like Arturo Gatti was for Mayweather...except worse, sadly. You can keep pointing to whatever Margarito did years before but he was washed up when Manny met him. At best, he was a shell of his former self. And as far as I'm concerned, you don't get kudos for beating someone who "used" to be good.

I should have read ahead, this is totally spot on.

The one thing i will disagree with is that their resumes are equal.

Juan moved up, and took out the toughest division in boxing at the time. Pac miraculously shot up from there after just one fight! ( with ATG David Diaz no less)

Pac spent his ENTIRE PRIME CAREER ducking the needle. He ranks alongside Jphnston and Armstrong as the most blatant cheats in sporting history

$50,000,000 - not worth it if they gonna stick a needle in me :barf:barf:barf:barf
