Morales Barrera Marquez Cotto Hatton... Pac ranks higher, and deservedly so. Not a knock on Hops, but his resume just doesn't have the depth. He has longevity and some excellent wins, but Pac should go down ranked higher.
Consistency and depth of resume. Hopkins has beaten fighters that have been highly ranked more than Manny has. I can see an argument considering Pacquiao having beaten Oscar and Barrera and Cotto and Morales and competed well against Marquez, but Hopkins beat a prime De La Hoya, Trinidad, Pavlik, Taylor (on my cards), along with Johnson, Winky, Tarver, and Pascal, most of those wins coming when those opponents were on a roll and Hopkins was a heavy underdog . That's not to mention his Middleweight reign; despite the competition not always consisting of Hall of Famers, his dominance was very impressive.
I have RJJ, Pacquiao and Mayweather all above Hopkins from his time period. :conf Great fighter, of course, but I feel like the longevity factor hysteria has struck with regard to his legacy, a bit.
Still 2 losses on his record. He didn't win those 2 fights whether I thought he did or not. His record states other wise
I don't give a **** about what three men on a given night felt like filling into a scorecard, so it's irrelevant when talking about my rankings. Interesting. The overrating due to his longevity a possibility, but it's more the underdog position and the apparent dangers of his opponents at the time he fights them that really puts the icing on the cake of his legacy IMO. Personally I have Hopkins above both Manny and Floyd.
Bernard's notable wins This content is protected Floyd's notable wins: Tarver This content is protected Oscar Pascal This content is protected Corrales Pavlik This content is protected Castillo (2) Tito This content is protected Cotto Vanderpool This content is protected Gatti Both ATGs, but I don't think Bernard's stack up.
Pac, I don't really feel it's up for debate. For the record, I have Hopkins just a few spots below Jones and a few above Mayweather.
