I agree Wlad would beat Golota even pre Steward Wlad would beat him as he was susceptible to punchers like Wlad. But Golota is as good as any of Wlad's best wins. I'd favour Golota over Pulev and Thompson as long as he doesn't have a mental breakdown. He was as good as Byrd but Povetkin might have the style to beat him.
Who would win isn't the issue. Golota had more natural ability than Wlad. He does everything better. He could Slip n counter. Duck , dodge, parry , weave. A good body attack. A great inside game. As solid combination puncher. He could box off the ropes. He could do it all. Wlad clinches every 5 seconds because of his limitations. Golota never had to constantly clinch even when fighting Bowe , who was better than Wlad opponents by an ridiculous margin. Not even sure Wlad has a better jab. He lost the battle of the jabs with Pulev and had to take a different approach by leaping in with the left hook lucking to end it. His relief in the corner when Pulev didn't make the count shows how much he struggled. Golota would have a cake walk with Pulev.
This post states it the best. People still go on and on about Ali and reporters and fans hang on every word Tyson utters. Nobody talks about a great like Holmes much.
lets remember wlad is still climbing, so he can get higher than he is. not a real atg yet, but things can change. if Tyson is just outside the top ten, and wlad is on the fringe of 20, then wlad can still climb a bit.
True only hardcore fans know and rate Holmes while every sports fan and even non sports fans know Ali and Tyson. But then a casual fans opinions mean next to nothing. Asking a casual fans opinion about boxing is like asking a vegetarian the best way to cook a steak, their opinion means **** all.
He has 17 consecutive title defenses. You don't think he has a few very good title defenses in there?
Wladimir Klitschko is likely to be the hardest puncher of all times. According to legendary boxing trainer Emmanuel Steward, Wladimir hits harder than Lennox Lewis. Not sure who could top that.
Tyson is just like RJJ - both are hypejobs who when faced with real opposition didn't just lose but got knocked the **** out. Tyson had mental instability on his side. He fought with murderous intent and benefitted from the intimidation that created and would bite your ear off. But like RJJ, he had not much in the way of any real skills and was way too chinny to keep benefitting from intimidation or very fast reflexes.
Wladimir has longevity over Tyson, but at their respective primes Tyson obliterates him. Wladmir could very well go on to have the most title defences ever, look around, theres no one to touch him.
Seriously STFU. Roach trained a 37yr old or whatever Tyson who didn't give a ****. He trained a mid 20's Wlad. Manny Steward just happened to be Wlads trainer when he made the comparison. If Ronnie Shields said Wlad has quicker hands than a Prime Tyson, he should be sectioned. I dont disagree that Wlad may punch as hard as Tyson, not my belief but its possible, but Tyson hit you with 4 or 5 of those shots at once.
Thanks for the contribution to the thread. Wladimirs talent as an athlete is quite something. He is also fast and has swift movements for such a big fella. That's one of the reasons he is tricky to predict in fantasy match ups. He has some incredible tools going for him, but also seems to have weaknesses possible to exploit for the right boxer. I don't get people who think he is a fraud at all. Do they even watch boxing, or do they troll on ESB just to kill time?
