So what if King took the lions share, that still leaves Mike with what $100 million? Hard to blame anyone but Tyson himself for pissing that away, the ****ing idiot.

Does anyone remember when Tyson was trying to get his licence back for the bite & his lawyer had a pie chart up showing Tyson was left with just $5.2m from the $30m purse for the Holyfield rematch after all the deductions .

Thats immaterial. I believe the question was about highest earnings. Mike back in the 80`s made a whopping $22Million when he faced Spinks for a mere 91 seconds. That was the biggest grossing fight in boxing history at the time. After his brief stint in jail it was projected that "if" he had unified the title again he would have been sports first billion dollar athlete. Heres a list of his earnings from Berbick up to McBride:

    Berbick $1.5m
    Smith $2m
    Thomas $2.5m
    Tucker $2.5m
    Biggs $2.5m
    Holmes $5m
    Tubbs $10m
    M Spinks $20m+
    Bruno I $7-8m
    C Williams $4m
    Tillman $2m
    Stewart $3m
    Ruddock I $6m
    McNeeley $25m
    Mathis Jr $10m
    Bruno II $30m
    Seldon $30m
    Holyfield I $30m
    Holyfield II $30m
    Botha $10m
    Norris $8.7m
    Francis $8-12m
    Savarese $8m
    Golota $10m
    Nielsen $5m
Lewis $17.5m + a cut of the PPV sales (grossed $103m)
    Etienne $5m
    D Williams $8m
    McBride $5m

Whats more shocking to think is the amount of money Don King raped from Tyson.:-( You`ll find that even currently Oscars numbers are not even close to that despite PPV and self promotion.

On an inflation-adjusted basis, Mike Tyson by a long, long way.

I wonder how well SRL would compare to these guys when the money is adjusted for inflation, it would be interesting to see that comparison. :think

I remember SRL made 40k for his debute pro fight which was a record. Obviously he made less back in the 80s than they do now but accounting for inflation it is probably competitive.

I cant believe the **** DLH and Hatton are making though. This 20-30 million stuff is insane. I have no doubt DLH will go after hatton in 2009 for the $$$$$$

For DLH and Hatton its purely a numbers game. Hence why Oscar fought Floyd and is now fighting Pacman. There both cashing in while there name and fame is worth something. Obviously it makes economic sense for both fighters. Hatton much like DLH though is a very shrewd businessmen. Do note though they dont make $20M plus in salary. By the time the PPV has been counted there figures would be close to that. Mikes figures which i have posted are salary alone not PPV.
