long term planning no doubt. Hopkins vs Roy would always have been a high risk fight for either fighter.

Yeah floyd turned down 8 million to make 15 million, did you tell your buddy that??

Most of the times fighters turn down fights because they feel that they could make more for that fight or more fighting someone eles.

Sometimes its not as simple as turning down a fight. Example many years ago Hopkins rejected an offer to fight Frankie Liles for I believe it was 2.5 million at a time were Hop was making 500,000 at best. Reason was that King wanted options on Hopkins should he win, which he would have. Many behind doors traps that fighters avoid.

I doubt that any fighter in the history of boxing turned down a huge payday because they were scared to fight another fighter. Right or wrong I think that when a fighter rejects a big offer its because he thinks that he can get a better one.

That would be true if that was an option. But in the REAL world it wasnt. Keep in mind that Margo was offered the date that Floyd fought Judah and he turned it down....It was also said BY Arum that the offer for Floyd to fight Margo was in REACTION to the fight that was on the table with Oscar. Arum stated that he wanted nothing to do with Oscar so Floyd brought out his contract and fought Oscar.

So you impling that floyd could have fought Margo which would have had to happen between the fight with Baldo 11-2006 and the fight with Oscar 5-2007 is total BS. It was one or the other. Not one then the other.

Yeah OK, he made 10 million dollars less fighting Wright, and look what happened there. Luckily for Mosley he was friends with Oscar and DLH put him on.

It should be noted when discussing hopkins he declined 40% of the purse against Jones (6 million) but accepted 25 % of the purse against oscar (10million). Also he declined a fight with James Toney where he could have made around 2.5 or 3 million i believe and instead fought a fight for 100,000 cause he didn't like the offer. Hopkins has always been very picky.
