A few of those guys have a pretty good case to be in the HOF, not that it will matter to someone whose knowledge is limited to stats like yourself, but all of them were very good fighters, guys like Medel and Legra (though past his best when Jofre beat him) being potential HOF'ers. Not to mention half those guys he beat that I mentioned were Featherweights who he beat on his comeback a full weight class above his best. He was past his prime as well.

Okay... now let's go over some of Toney's performances..... he draws with Sanderline Williams, gets a gift decision against Tiberi, a split decision against Johnson, loses to a 14 fight Griffin (and again in the rematch; both very close), manages to lose against Drake Thadzi, looks good against Peter I then looks total **** against him during the rematch..... do you see the pattern? Toney was always inconsistent and could put on a dreadful performance at times. This is simply who Toney is. Now go ahead and say that he was weight drained for the Peter rematch as well, explaining the horrible performance compared to 4 months before.

I had a discussion recently and Jose Legra has a good case as a potential HOFer definitely.

I'm not suggesting every bad performance Toney had was due to problems making the weight. And how could he have been weight drained in the rematch with Peter when he never had a precise limit to come in at on the scales. Lets be sensible. Just look at him throughout the Jones fight, he was a complete shell. I don't think other inconsistent showings support that he wasn't weight drained for the Jones fight. I happen to think that Jones would have beaten him if he was in shape. Want to know something, I hate saying these things as it sounds like I'm taking credit away from Jones' performance and how he performed. But just look at Toney, he was stuck in 2nd gear, at times could hardly lift his arms to get off with punches, and when he did he clearly looked like a weight drained fighter. He was breathing heavily after 2-3 rounds.

I think it's one of the best examples of a weight drained fighter in recent years, I really do. De La Hoya was the same against Pacquaio. He looked a shell of himself in there. Tarver was the same against Hopkins. It's not about siding with a fighter, it's about facing the facts.

If Toney was in perfect physical condition and not weight drained he would have fought better. Some of the performances you mentioned when Toney was inconsistent, he never looked weight drained. I think age caught up with him in the Peter rematch.

Scouser's head can be full of nonsense. Just like mines and a few others on here. A bit nonsense and joking around now and then keeps us all sane.
