This is a mixed gala, but the Pinoys do it right - everything in batches (unlike, say, Russian cards where boxing, kickboxing and MMA of professional or amateur grade are strewn together haphazardly and sometimes in latticework fashion). Two hours' worth of amateur bouts to kick things off at 10:30am local time in Benguet (it was already tomorrow morning there at 9:30pm for us on the American east coast...don't think about it too hard. ) have concluded and the nine-bout pro card is underway.

This event (which is a charity fundraiser) was originally scheduled for October 30th, last Tuesday, but was postponed because of Typhoon Rosita (which did almost 2 billion pisos - or $37.5 million in USD - of agricultural damage in northern Luzon)

This is actually proving to be more entertaining than it has any right to be.

 

Damn, the gal in the blue w/ red stripes is putting in WORK!

I've never seen a work rate like that with almost exclusively the legs (striking pretty much nonstop bell to bell, I'd say 85% high kicks, ~5% roundhouse, and the rest straight punch flurries)

 

The woman in black isn't a bad fighter, either, just getting TOTALLY overwhelmed.
