All-time great punch vs an all-time great chin: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoZM1H1oopU[/ame]
Is there longer footage avlabile of this fight? Also very impressive, how Moore is dropping Maxim. Maxim does well getting up.
Archie was Prime...amazing how Maxim got up from the last KD, great recupritive power..I think Archie was on his best win streak and beat the top heavys shortly after and in between Maxim. Maxim/ Patterson was a close fight.
Amazing that the commentator says Maxim came in as a slight favorite. Moore had owned Maxim in their first fight, but I've read that their second fight was close, which may have influenced people to believe Maxim could get over on Moore in this one. I can't believe Maxim was able to keep up from that first knockdown. I think these fights with Maxim represented the tail end of Moore's prime. I think Moore's very best years were the ones just before he won the title. Maxim looked like a shopworn fighter by this time, and indeed he went steadily downhill afterward.
Yeah, I guess people thought Moore's "diminishing return" against Maxim meant he was slipping and could be caught. I'd like to know just how long people were picking against Moore based upon his time of life.
Maxim was super tough but this footage just reiterates what I think about Moore; deadly, but not one dimensional.
