I just watched that recently, I've read it's not one of Ketchel's better performances. He dominated Papke in their third fight.

    Cool footage.

But, uhhh, what in the **** is Papke wearing for shorts? That would make Meldrick Taylor blush.

And I learned long ago to suffer Corbett videos.

Yeah, man. Sometimes I try to find cool pictures of Ketchel fighting, and Papke and his bare-ass have ruined like three of them

    :rofl

You found some good ones though. Check out Ketchel in the bottom one, he looks like death warmed up. WTF is the story with Papke's hair in the middle one?

That bottom one is one of my new favorite photos. I just found it a few days ago and it's my new wall-paper. Ketchel almost looks possessed.

He got hit so hard it starting falling out in clumps?

Possessed is the correct word, that's exactly right.

I think more people should respond to this thread, I'm very interested in what people have to say about Ketchel when he's fighting someone his own size, and not an ATG heavyweight 30 pounds heavier than he. Does he really look as crude and un-skilled as so many say. What do you think of his foot-work, his punch technique, his in fighting and strength in the clinches? Come on people!

There's a fine line between badass and scary.

He looks good. Can't see him beating the likes of Hagler and Monzon though....but can see him giving trouble to all otehr so-called ATG HW's....he's super tough, strong, a good inside fighter, and, as we all know, if he did decide to find his range he could take you out with one punch.

    The definition of an ATG.

Ketchel is certainly wild and wooly he swung from the rooftops but he had terrrific power and carried it allthrough a fight. Papke was a very tough hombre himself , he had to be to last as long with Stanley.
Those "men "that go to the ballet for a specific reason would probably have enjoyed Papke's ring attire, but its a bit off putting to us Heteros!

As a fan of many old timers, I feel that Ketchel is over rated. He would be meat vs ANY all time top heavyweight, and IMO lacks the skills to beat the best middles in terms of Monzon, Hagler, Greb, et al.

Inside, i think he's very skilled. How he would do against Greb is speculation, of course, but at a guess i'd agree "not very well". Monzon and Hagler would beat him on generalship, I think, but i'd pick him over any MW he could inflict his plan upon, aside from perhaps Dick Tiger.

    LaMotta would be fun.
