This the footage from that Italian doc on Loi? Yeah, I’ve seen it. My favorite part was when Ortiz dropped him with a clean shot that Stevie Wonder wouldn’t have disputed, and then Loi popped back up to continue fighting while the Italian ref (who was watching from two feet away) just sorta pretended not to notice.

Maybe that gave some insight as to how Loi never officially suffered even one knockdown in his career.

Do you know for certain that there was a mandatory 8-count rule in effect?

At the very least, the ref would step in to wipe off the gloves of the downed fighter.

Not to mention, the knockdown would’ve been documented, obviously. We were all made very aware of Ortiz‘s knockdown at Loi’s hands.

So you dont know fore sure?
In Europe at that time there were no 8 count. In many states in US there were no mandatory 8count and no dusting of gloves.

Yeah, yet the other knockdown Ortiz scored in their third fight goes unnoticed too

    For championship fights? Name one.

Also, the fact that the knockdown wasn’t documented or counted against Loi. You forgot that part.
