i was thinking in the summer i'd go up this mountain every week. that they have for people to hike, it's a 3 mile hike uphill where you practically lunge onto steps up in the most painful way possible. I remember seeing the 1/4th sign of the way there and wanting to kill myself because there was no other way out. that being said im fairly fit, enough to be able to go 4 rounds okay. I was wondering what the input was and if people even do this for cardio. I remember i had doms for a few days. If i trained at least once a week hiking and then running 3 times a week for 3 miles would this be ideal training? Im asuming that eventually i'd adapt to the soreness and would be fine but i woudnt want to be overtraining. :huh
Is it really the best thing for boxing? Hiking = very long low intensity cardio (1 hour + easily) amateur Boxing =fairly short very high intensity cardio
i`m doing mountain once in week or two.. i have ok boxing stamina, but hiking is very hard its good for breaking mental gaps and of course for stamina, lower back and legs and like NVSemin said, watch your knees, especially when you are going down (don`t run).. everytime save your record and next time try to break it! yeah, its not good like sprints, but it doesnt need to be long low intesity. It can be very high intensity, if you run uphill it can be much harder then sprints n stuff. Maybe it would be better for 12 rounds pros to hike but i think amateurs can also have some benefits from it. and also its ok once in a while to go for some fresh air in mountains and woods :good
easily? :huh i had to take 6 breaks in which i lay in a pile of sweat with the 20 other people who are dieing from just trying to get through at a slow pace. I do do a mixture of jogging running and sprinting uphill currently because it's starting to pore. but in reality this is probably the hardest thing yet, my legs felt like dropping, i was dead tired and my mind was completely dead. i know this sounds like some random hike but it litterally is like a fleet of large steps in which you have to lunge up. Once your legs are gone, your stamina just drops.
Marciano used to take long walks and hike every day. In the bareknuckle days it was a staple of training, and Archie Moore used to hike at his ranch/training camp in California. He tried to get Ali to do it, when he briefly trained him, but Ali refused so they parted ways.
its good but watch the knees, hips, and lower back swimming!!!!! best workout around if you have access to a minimum 25 meter pool
I noticed Wlad seems to do a lot of swimming. Does he do any other conditioning apart from swimming and his boxing specific work? :good
Interesting how swimming doesnt have a very good crossover as such, with other sports. For some time now, Ive had the pleasure of working with Triathletes. They just keep turning up, at 1st with bad Hips every time. Plus its the same problem, Leftside Glute lower Back. Until one turned up Rightside same problem,Vlad has back issues I believe. Whats Happening do you think
The society we live in unfortunately breeds lower back/hamstring problems from the hips. Anterior pelvic tilt resulting in synergistic dominance results in a ton of problems. On an unrelated note that you'll like, I've booked the biomechanics lab out at uni for tomorrow, going to have a good play around with some equipment :yep
Cheers, really appreciate it :good Good thing about my uni is they let us use all of the expensive stuff that other uni's either don't have or won't let their students touch :yep
