I wonder though, why would a pro boxer would even do such an excersize.?

A guess would be purely for stamina, but if so, why not take a step back and atleast stretch the arm while punching.

In my old boxing club, the fitness boxers and fighters were seperated, i did both and often wiht the fitness boxers there would be someone who punched exactly like calzaghe did, but they would be corrected immediately. Nevermind being corrected by the coaches, other who had only been memebers a short while, would help them out.

You can't simply avoid this volume of punching, every punch received should be counted.

Because Donaire video has power in punches, while Calzaghe only touches bag.

 

bad fix, you know **** about boxing, here is the professional analysis:

- JC does not slaps here ... slaps are lateral
- JC throws straight but the arm ain't straight either, the punches are no jabs
- JC is focused and it looks like (assuming his age) he is using full power
... so .... as much as the speed allows the power to be translated from
the muscles to the opponent body these punches can be condidered as a power punches :deal
.... the amount of power per punch is smaller but the volume of punching makes
the constant absorption of power per time unit.
