Hinata Maruta is a 5'9.5 19 year old Super Bantamweight with a 1-0 record. Born in and fighting out of Kawanishi, Hyogo, Japan. His near mythical skillset has been talked about in Boxing circles in Japan for over a decade since he was a mere kindergartener Hinata who is still a teenager has been handed the moniker of The Number One Hope. So its an understatement to say the Japanese are expecting a lot from this kid, like being their next breakout star following in the footsteps of The Monster Inoue. He has an amateur record of 55-11 with 31 KO's and made his debut against Jason Canoy, he systematically beat down and broke down over 8 rounds and came close to stopping Canoy for the first time in his career, this is a very impressive win for his first match since Canoy did what even master boxer Rigondeaux the Great couldn't do, he handed Drian Francisco a KO1 loss. He looked good in his pro debut, but he was getting tagged a little too often for my liking, so he needs to work on his defense, but he has quick hands, throws good combinations, very impressive footwork and he appears to have a pretty damn good chin. Personally I think the Japanese need to build him a little slower, because he has a ton of talent but if they put him in there with too stiff a test they may find themselves with a Loma-Salido situation on their hands. He has the potential to be a crossover star with female fans as well, apparently he has droves of teenage girls fawning over him like he's the Japanese Justin Bieber, and he may very well be, he's even been referred to as a twink in the Japanese media... lol. I think he will. :good I hope they don't rush him into a title fight and put him in with at least three journeymen this year.

Yeah he's a kid, what's the rush, that strategy backfired on them big time with Shohei Omori and almost did with Kosei Tanaka recently. No need to risk a prospect with this much talent by rushing him too quickly, a slow build is perfectly fine when you're but a child.

Journeymen? They are targeting a title this year (JBC or OPBF) and want a world ranked guy in March!
