    Really.

    Link?

Or are you sure it isn't that you perhaps don't have a grasp on subtle nuances of the language like "six OF the best"? ;)

They were: Kessler, Bute, Andrade, Froch, Bika and Stieglitz.

Of course, now the best 6 aren't the ones above.

I'd really love to see where Ken Hershman, Al Bernstein, Steve Farhood or anyone else claimed that any one of the original S6 talents were better than anyone not in the S6 and would beat anybody else in the world at the weight, and that they were the undisputed six greatest 168lb talents in the world.

    Please, show me.

The tournament was awesome as it is I agree, but Showtime most likely could have had the best 6 guys involved if they wanted to...at least tried to.

The point is they never intended from the start to make it the best it could be. It was mostly about trying to crown a new young American star versus the best Europe has to offer.

    Lucian Bute
    Mikkell Kessler
    Carl Froch
    Librado Andrade
    Kelly Pavlik
    Jean Pascal

This would have been sweet! Pascal and bute tearing it up in their backyard and Andrade vs Froch would be insane!

I really don't think anyone involved in organizing it knew that Ward-Kessler would play out as it did...

They got several promoters onboard, which is a huge mountain to climb in itself. I'm sure if Bute with his huge following and ability to generate revenue in Canada had been a viable option they'd have exhausted whatever means to include him. It wouldn't make business sense not to. There are so many snags and pitfalls and so much room for error with getting even two boxers to sign on the dotted line. Getting six at once is a pretty big coup - even if there was "one that got away".

    IntentonalButt you are spot on...................

People can disagree to who should be invited to Super SiX, but the hole tournament was made, because the "Big fights" couldnt be made.................

And this 6 guys agreed. Give them credit.....loke how they have lost and won.

This is what Super Six is all about. For promoters and fighters to DARE to fight..............
    win or loose....................

    Ward
    Dirrel
    Bute
    Froch
    Kessler
    Johnson

That would have been the best thing ever.

Showtime had already seen how Bute filled 15 000 seats with no problem as they telecast at least 2 of his fights.

It didn't make business sense not to invite Bute and that's why they have now corrected that mistake by guaranteeing him 2 million per fight !! That tells you everything you need to know there...

It really doesn't take a genius to figure out what the original plan was...it's easy to see..

The tournament as it was, was still the best thing boxing got in a while :good

I just don't think it was to crown an American. Kessler was an almost universal outright favorite.

If anything, the plan may have been to beef up Kessler's resume and turn him into Showtime's big star (and then parlay his tournament success into a big showdown with Bute).

    - 3 Americans

    - 3 Europeans

Who comes out on top as the best ?

SHOWTIME on one side as the main ingredient (US backing) & Sauerland Promotions which is the initiator of the project on the other..

Bute was never considered cause he didn't fit in with the sides planning the tournament, plain and simple to understand.

The last part...you're reaching a little....
