Jonsey, I disagree. I think he would have sold out that arena against a cow given his status at the end of 2012.

might be true, but Maloney still got ahead of himself.

Whilst Thompson is fringe world level, I don't think it was a step too far for Price. He lost but it wasn't like he was badly outclassed or anything like that, and this type of result could have happened against anyone who can punch. Stylistically, it was a good choice of opponent but the only thing which let Price down was his chin.

This result will always be on the cards for Price. You never know, he might work his way up and eventually win a world title, beating good fighters along the way, but then he might have a routine mandatory against an obscure opponent and Price gets stopped. The rest of his career will be very unpredictable, I think.

Thompson was a good step up for Price but it wasn't an impossible fight to win. I wouldn't rule Price out in a rematch at all, and if he was to stop Thompson, I wouldn't be at all shocked. Similarly, if Price got knocked out himself, I wouldn't be shocked there either. He's good enough to beat Thompson, he hits harder enough to knock him out but sadly for Price, he is there to be stopped himself.

When was hit with that punch, look how his neck reacts! It looked like his head was going to fly off.

In certain area's he might not have that heavyweight type strength.

Technically and physically offensively i think David Price is a huge task for any heavyweight, i don't think he has a bad defence ether! But can he deal with pressure..? Even Audley Harrison is more proven at dealing with pressure, look at the way he nullified Martin Rogan in the prize fighter, he hustled against Sprott and Williams aswell in the past.

When David Price was pressured by Skelton, he had that uncomfortable scared expression on his face and just went backwards! For somebody of his size, he could of at-least tried to tie Skeleton up.

I think David Price will go back to knocking guys out in 1-2 rounds.

Note: I still think he is a intimidating and huge task for most heavyweights to overcome. Just because of his share size, power, and technical ability.

I think his footwork is part of the problem too. Fighters have been able to get close to him in the past. He needs to learn to spin opponents and move laterally. Thompson's experience at a higher level meant that he knew he would be able to manouvre his way into range at some stage in the fight, as long as he didn't get blasted out in the meantime.

A guy of Price's size should also be able to win the fight or demoralise opponents with the jab alone, especially at below world level.

I didn't think that much hindsight was required. I thought the Skelton fight revealed a lot:

It turns out that fleet of foot wasn't even required. I've had my doubts about Prices punch resistance, despite what his fanatical supporters were trying to convince us of otherwise, and his recent KO loss just solidifies some very strong suspicions.
