What's the Classics thoughts on this highly overlooked Flyweight champ from Japan? He's a skilled southpaw who was never stopped in his 5 losses and some were even seen as controversial. He's fought great fighters such as Chartchai Chionoi, Pone Kingpetch, Efren Torres, Horacio Accavallo, Bernabe Villacampo, and also the great Fighting Harada whom he fought in only his 10th fight but lost to the legend. Very underrated resume.

Surely he has to be up there amongst one of the best fighters to come from Japan, and perhaps one of the best Flyweights as well?

A beautifully polished fighter and dangerous, to boot. He's in my top-15 Flyweights (#11).

Only on account of his relatively short run as champ is he not higher.

He was clearly capable of operating on the same level as other legends Kingpetch and Accavallo, and I rate him highly head-to-head on the basis of his close bouts with these guys (not to mention his starching of Kingpetch in their first encounter).

His rematch with Kingpetch is a truly top-tier boxing master class, given by both men, in my opinion.
