Can someone tell me about this little fighter? I see he has some respectable victories over such opponents as Pone Kingpetch, Efren Torres, and Chartchai Chinoi. It's also notable that he lost a six rounder to future great Fighting Harada in the year of 1960. A southpaw, decent power, but what style of fighter was he? Is he considered to be a great operator? What's the story on his Split decision loss to Pone Kingpetch in Thailand? Detailed answers would be appreciated.
He was robbed of the victory in the Kingpetch rematch, in my opinion. At least that's what the 9 or so rounds of footage indicates. As to the question, he was among the highest level of operator in the division's history, in my honest opinion. A strong, very well schooled southpaw sharp-shooter with the ability to switch it up to that extra gear when the need struck. Great straight left hand, which you'll see him use often and efficiently as a counter in the recently posted rematch against Kingpetch. I need to re-watch the footage against Accavallo. He was probably a tad bit unlucky not to have gained the decision in at least one of them, although I can't recall which.
:good Cheers El. I'm really liking the footage I've seen. The left hand counter which puts Pone down in their first encounter was a beauty. I'm going to watch his fight with Efren Torres in a minute. I figure it was a one-sided affair?
Not especially from what I recall. But then Torres was an excellent fighter himself. It's been a while since I've watched a lot of this footage, and when I did they were mostly on days where I'd devoted a lot of time to numerous different fights, and have been since clouded in my memory because of it. I think I'll actually take the time to watch that one again alongside you.
Unfortunately, I thought the fight was on Youtube in it's entirety, but all we have is 10 minutes. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxmW7j7Dnvg&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
I've seen most of his opponents and think very highly of them especially Accvalo and Torres, so this guy should be thought of very highly IMO. I need to check him out though.
What a finish. That's the second gear I was talking about. He goes from reserved, calculating counter-attacker to mini-Pacquiao in the blink of an eye.
Man...brutal knockout. Yeah, just watched it now, reminded me of this... This content is protected Only the referee was there to catch him on this occasion. He was more interested in raising Hiroyuki's hand.
Nice GIF :yep Anyway, here's pretty much all the footage out there of the above mentioned fights :good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4DERvF1gGI[/ame] I don't class it as a robbery because I can see how Pone might have deserved the victory, saying that whilst Ebihara seems a little more ragged at times, he still lands the most potent shots of the fight, not surprising as Kingpetch is a complete feather fist. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq3h5p0HFYc[/ame] Sheer brutality.
Hearing good things about Ebihara. Only saw him once against Severino. And wasnt impressed. Gotta check his other fights.
