Strengthen him all they want, he's like Bambi on a frozen ****ing lake when he takes a flush shot. All the credit to the world to Amir Khan for getting through it and taking some massive shots by Maidana, I honestly thought he was ****ed in the 10th and 11th but showed some amazing heart and a will to win. I was impressed, but I hope that performance was more due to him wanting to get Maidana out early rather than him blowing his wad early and still walking into shots. But still, you cannot deny his terrible chin. I'm probably going to get **** for it seeing as he went 12 with Maidana, but you can't just cross it off the list.
Khan´s chin has improved, and anyone at 140 would be like that from shots from maidana, he took a lot of clean hard punches after getting wobbled that should ahve knocked him out cold if his chin was as bad as people said before the fight.
that shot would have wobbled almost anybody. It was flush counter shot on the chin that he didn't see.
Khan looked like he was guarding Kobe Bryant in the 10th, he almost broke his leg. Pretty funny after Roach said they would starch El Chino in 6 rounds what a stupid old man haha.
I'm not denying that shot wouldn't have, but come on man, it wasn't like that was the only thing that hurt him. He was hit and hurt throughout. Had he not had his mobility and speed he might not've gone the distance. I'm proud of him and all, and I don't wish to **** on anyone, but I personally just cannot say "WELL THAT'S KHAN NEVER GETTING KNOCKED OUT AGAIN". Hatton survived Tszyu but got his lights put out by Mayweather. Not saying Mayweather can't finish fights (more-so, he won't) but just because a fighter faces a massive puncher and survives the onslaught doesn't mean it's smooth sailing. Everyone acts like Bradley can't bang. ****er put down Witter, quite a feat even if most people won't really agree.
He impressed me with the ability to take the shots and still stay upright but I have never in my life seen someone run, I mean literally run, with his back to Maidana looking over his shoulder, from glancing blows as I have Khan. Maidana is a big puncher but he has never had huge snap in his shots plus he was exhausted. Even jabs were hurting Khan up in the 10th. Very impressive show of resilience and his chin has been massively upgraded in my eyes, but I agree with OP. I think it was more Maidana's poor finishing ability and less Khan's chin that kept him upright.
I just still find it amazing Maidana was knocked down but Khan wasn't. I thought he would at least take a knee.
At one point in round ten, I thought he was going down, wobbling and unsteady... I wonder if he went down, whether it would be still a 8/10 round or 7/10 round because of the dominance of Maidana in that round??
It would be stupid to now say.... “Khan has a durable chin!” Because every time he was hit, he was bothered. But at the same time, that is understandable - considering the tremendous power of the opponent before him. He reacted far better than we thought he would, and proved his chin isn’t that awful. I think a fair statement would be....."it’s not great, but it’s not as ridiculous as we once mocked": 10 (Superman chin) 9 (Iron chin) 8 ..... 7 (Good chin) 6 (Average chin) 5 (Questionable chin) 4 (Amir’s chin) 3 ..... 2 (what we thought Amir’s chin was) 1 .....
That still counts as a 10-8 round,w hich means khan could have basically taken a knee to recover a bit, which impressed me even mroe because he chose to toughen it out.
It's a good chin... no average chin would be able to stand up to those shots for 2 minutes straight in the later rounds, after fighting as much of an exhausting fight as Khan did. Maidana was going all out to finish him too, the guy had that crazy look in his eyes when he saw he had Khan badly hurt. In the 11th and 12th he was burnt out. The more I think about it, the more I think Khan should have took a knee to buy some time... he was ahead on the scorecards by a comfortable margin and could have afforded to do it. He shouldn't take that kind of punishment again either, some of the risks he took (like leaning on the ropes several times and letting Maidana land some brutal uppercuts/bodyshots) were stupid and unnecessary just to prove a point.
Cos Ariza And "Roach teh Dope Coach" got Khan on HGH now too, just like his buddy Manroid Pacroid. :deal Foreman Hooooooooooook!:hat:hat
