Please find a link to a short article on the Ring 10 website titled, "The Arenas that Made New York the Mecca of Boxing." It got me thinking that it would be interesting to have a thread dedicated to pictures and anecodes about arenas of yesteryear. For example, I did a quick search on google for the Eastern Parkway Arena in Brooklyn, but it didn't return any images of the arena. Does anyone have any pictures of the Eastern Parkway Arena?

Ah, good ole Eastern Parkway Arena ,called "home of upsets",was formerly an Ice Skating rink, located about 5 blocks from where I grew up...I was at the fights most every week...I was in heaven those days, going to MSG Friday nights, Eastern Pkwy, St Nicks Arena, Ridgewood Grove, Broadway Arena and several other boxing venues during the week and many Saturday nights to boot...But what I loved the most those days was going to Stillman's gym on 8th Ave, NYC, most EVERY Sat to see the greatest fighters in the world sparring in 2 rings, and also in the audience rubbing shoulders with old time great fighters and show business celebrities... Pretty heady days for me... P.S. In the 1940s, early 50s,m there was a fight card every night in the 5 boros of NY, except Sunday...
No, a little before my time, but my dad saw him at MSG,and raved about his dynamic punches coming out of such a thin frame. If Lew Jenkins had Rocky Marciano's work ethics, and stayed sober, he would be an alltime great lightweight for sure...
