Lol. Pac won some rounds. You might give Dempsey one, and thats debateable since Tunney won the round before and AFTER the knockdown.

Thats actually bull****. If you watch when Tumney goes down he tries to count but then notices Dempsey looming behind him and sends him on his way. When Dempsey gets dropped the ref jumps in to start the count, literally identical to when Tunney was down. The difference is Dempsey was up at the count of one so the ref never got the chance to send Tunney to his corner.

Dempsey, quick side note, can you please learn how to use the quote button!? :)

Your posts are hard to read sometimes.

Paq did zero against Mayweather, showed zero ***** and may have squeezed out a round when Mayweather felt like coasting in a cakewalk. Dempsey, a shell of what he was, made Tunney fight every minute of every round, firing with power every step along the way and almost took a terrific Tunney out ... no contest on who fought the better and more courageous fight.

I gave PAC 3 rounds but I still agree with your post. Dempsey at least tried to go for it from start to finish. The mayweather PAC fight was garbage.

Again if Paq took any rounds it was because Mayweather played with him and coasted. Floyd controlled the entire fight and was never in any danger.

Tunney, who looked far better than I ever thought, fought every minute of the fight knowing he was in with a very dangerous opponent who could and almost did decapitate him. Tunney won the rounds but there were a dozen times Dempsey missed him by fractions of inches with bombs that are not hard to imagine would have landed if he had been the 1919 vinatge.

I'm one of the bigger Dempsey critics on this board based on his throwing away exceptional talent and feel more than ever I am right.

Tunney as good as he looks, I still don't think he would last with prime Dempsey. Dempsey's timing would be better than here, as would his stamina and his foot speed. Tunney would likely outbox him for stretches again but I don't think he would see the final bell.
I think this footage improves both men. Although I hold both already in high regard.

I say again, pac won rounds. Pretending he didnt is silly. You could argue that Dempsey didnt win a single round of the total twenty. Mayweather couldnt knock out pac if he had tried and his performance was pure **** as well whereas tunney turned in a masterclass and could have knocked out dempsey several times had he stepped on the gas.

I agree with this as well I scored rounds 3 (close ) 4 and 6 for Pac. Still doesn't change the fact the fight lacked any drama and Pac didn't seem dangerous at any time in the fight. Whereas Tunney may have won every round it is arguable he did with the exception of round 7 on the rematch, however Dempsey still represented a clear and present danger to Tunney. You don't get that vibe in the May Pac fight. At least I don't.
To me Tunney looks better than the Mayweather of the Pacquaio fight and Dempsey looks better than the Pacman that showed up for that fight.

i don't think scoring the kd round to dempsey is debateable at all, without the kd it's a clear tunney round but i wouldn't think of scoring it 10-8 to tunney, and that is where you start not scoring the round for the guy who got the kd.

Watching round 1 again, it's kind of surprising how much of a lateral mover Dempsey was.

When you think of Jack Dempsey, this kind of stuff doesn't come to mind, does it?

Jack seems more versatile in his ring generalship than any other great swarmer that came after him. Them angles tho..
