If his comeback is successful??? Beats Wilder & takes the WBC.... After major health issues & a long lay off.. Would he become an ATG HW IYO?? He'd basically have owned every title at HW at some point..
He'd crack the top all time UK heavyweights list. If Fury wants to be the man, he has to beat Joshua.
Or shouldn't that be the other way round if Fury beats Wilder??? Considering Fury dethroned WK... He'd be the man to beat, no?
Sometimes in boxing the stars align. In Fury's case that was his mental and physical prime vs. a 39 year old champion who underestimated him. He hasn't looked that good since. In fact that was his best performance. Wilder is a bit of hype job, struggling vs top 15-40 type of competition, and also beating an older man ( Ortiz ) for his signature win. His power bails him out, but like Fury he has zero wins over top ten opponents in his prime. I do think Tyson Fury belongs in the top 5 today. He'll get some credit if he wins. Joshua is the real man to beat.
Fury is a very good, skilled and elusive big man, probably fair to say he's the biggest threat to Joshua. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Even if he beats Wilder, he's only had 2 title fights in his career and never defended a world title. to put things into perspective, Wlad Klitschko, an all-time great, had 29 title fights, with 23 title defenses. With the likes of Joshua, Joyce, Hrygovic, Whyte, Miller, Dychko, Yoka, Parker etc coming through and old Ortiz, Povetkin, and Pulev still around, it's a very steep mountain to climb for Fury to reach ATG status. I think that status will belong to Joshua.
Not for me. Partly because I don't rate Wilder as highly as some, but primarily because Fury hasn't shown he can cope with the pressure of being champion and defending his titles in the ring. Joshua has and that puts him on a higher level, for now at least.
Fury doesn't have a win over a top 10 opponent in his prime? Eh! LOL Isn't Joshua's best win a Tyson Fury sloppy second?
No to he honest I don't but factor in this is a comeback & a bounce back from mental & physical issues.. That would be a noteworthy achievement in itself. Agreed Joshua is the defending champion, it reminds me a little bit of when Vitali came back in Wlads reign.. people refused to give WK his dues as they thought his brother was the rightful heir... I guess we'll find out who's the best over the next year anyway... Can he do a Vitali or a Foreman??? We will see...
Good points.. But two successful shouts (should he win) at HW titles in what are essentially two different eras is very noteworthy. Fury will have owned every belt at HW... Not many can say that. ATG is of course subjective but he's making the right noises & doing the right things & fighting the RIGHT fighters.. He called Wilder out! He could go on a bum run but what's the point...
Don't get me wrong, it would be a tremendous achievement and with two good wins away from home with the odds against him his status as one of the UKs finest boxers would be assured. I don't think those two performances bracketing that time off the rails equals the sustained record of achievement from Joshua. So for me he'd deserve high praise, but beating the current number two shouldn't leapfrog him above the established number one.
I think it all depends if he can beat Joshua so he can prove hes the best of the post Wlad generation. That mantle rightfully so belongs to Joshua at the moment. Fury can whine he picked up his titles out of the bin all he wants, the reality is its no coincidence Fury sat on the sidelines for years after going positive for nandrolone, and then changes the narrative to beating mental illness. I more interested to hear on Joe Rogan whether Fury shot up steroids in his arse or between his toes to avoid tracks. If Fury retires after he beats Wilder is he an ATG? No, his belts and 2 wins are excellent achievements, but hes neither earned it or proven it in my opinion.
He underestimated breaking the title defense record set by Joe Louis? Underestimated the guy Manny Steward said would be the future HW Champ? lol, that's funny. Klitfans always come up the best excuses
If Fury beats Wilder it will be one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history. But to beat AJ, now THAT would be a comeback. But really..it honestly depends on what happens to Wilder afterwards. The question still remains that we don't actually know how good Wilder is. Most of us assume he is straight from the landfill. But since he's fought absolutely nobody apart from a few fat high guard guys and a medically unfit fat bloke, we aren't really sure how good wilder is. If Fury beats Wilder, and then Wilder beats AJ, or he beats Parker or Whyte or Povetkin or someone of that level, then yeah you've got to put him in the hall of fame. But if Wilder becomes a total failure after losing to Fury, then what does that truly say about Fury's win? I think he will be an ATG heavyweight regardless but people will still question the Wilder win if Deontay ends up losing to some other top heavyweights.
Ok. That's your opinion & I respect it.. But while Joshua's fighting Vladimir's leftover's Fury is genuinely challenging himself against a still young & genuine threat.. In fact he's the underdog going into the lions den! I respect that more than selling Wembley out fighting a Carlos or an Alexander... But each to there own. As for steroids, they're ALL on em... Joshua included. It's not porridge they are taking..
