Does anyone know when 154 (Light-Middle) was established? I believe its a more recent weight class. This is a big fight with one guy being either #1/2 P4P fighter and the other being a dangerous opponent who some still question. I believe Cotto presents more problems for Mayweather than any other opponent previously. Where does this matchup rank with other great 154 fights?

I'm not sure when 154 was established, but a lot of former 147lbs. usually end up there.

This fight between Floyd and Cotto has a lot of question marks IMO.

    Floyds speed?
    Cotto's strength advantage?
Floyds inactivity and pending jail time?
Cotto's ability to further improve under his new trainer?

Basically Floyd on paper has all the advantages, but are there any looming
factors that can work in Cotto's favor just enough to cause an upset?

I am saying most significant at this weight in a long time!

I believe the WBA established the first junior middle belt in the 70's, but it wasn't until the eighties that the other bodies followed suit.

For me, Hearns sets the standard at 154.
