What belt came first, what came last, why were they not just shut down as soon as they came about!

ibf gained credence because holmes took there ibf belt and at the time was recognised as the worlds best heavy.

i think boxing politics of the wba or wbc meant he gave up one or both of there belts, but it was a long time ago and i cannot remember the exact timeline or details without looking it up.

but holmes taking there belt gave them there push start.

The WBA was formed in 1962 from the NBA (which started in 1921). Initially like the NBA, a USA dominated organization until a internal coup in 1976, led by Jose Coredo, made it the organization we know today.

The WBC was formed in 1963 by George Parnassus and others because of the then American dominated WBA.

The IBF was formed in 1983 when Bob Lee split from the WBA after losing an election to become its (The WBA) president.

The WBO was formed in 1987 after another row within the WBA.
