It isnt a real sport. No sport i know has ppl picking and choosing opposition, paying off madatories and catch weights? Amongst other things.

Floyds team got away with that because of who he is and where he was. But there cant be many fans out there who would want a dq over that in a fight that good. Nothing worse than a fight not coming to a natural conclusion.

3/5 of what you just said was unintelligible.

I brought this up because, I saw the highlight in the above link and got to wondering about the situation. Of all the things that Boxing does to shoot itself on the foot, giving leniency to its "cash cows" is the worst. It's the equivalent of White Collar criminals getting a slap on the wrist while the other guys get years in prison.

    Its not that deep.

Its entirely up to the referee to make that call. That is the rule.

People paid money to go watch the show, so if possible, the referee will err on the side of giving them their money's worth. As it were, everyone was happy the fight went on.

Floyd wasnt that big back in those days. He was top p4p but he wasnt a cash cow. In fact, people laughed at his PPV numbers (300K-ish). So lets drop the favoritism party line please.

Mike Tyson was allowed to fight after biting Evander's ear the first time and after trying to snap Botha's arm.

Ali was not DQ'd for refusing to go to the neutral corner after knocking Liston down.

Hamed was not DQ'd against Ceaar Soto

Derrick Gainer got a tko victory over Norwood after a low blow combo while the ref held Norwood.

Judah was not DQ'd for the lowblows.

High profile fights generally don't end in DQ unless the envelope is pushed really far. It could've been, but it wasn't.

As a fan of Molina, that was freakin' awful! Couldn't believe they did that to him. That guy has been screwed over quite a few times in a variety of ways.

You forgot about gatti, who he knocked senseless in the opening round during a break, seconds after the ref said break, and stop punching.
Never seen Gatti look so helpless.

He wasn't dq'd because you're just another cry baby alt. Back then nobody listened to cry baby alts, and as you can see they still don't lol...

Was thinking this. Its up to the ref's discretion. He could have been dq'd, but wasn't. All these fighters and MANY more could have been dq'd for similar infractions. Wouldn't be as interesting a sport if that's what happened.

I've asked this question before and got a load of hate for it. He was losing the fight at that point, his team broke the rules, the fight was disrupted for several minutes, it should have gone down as a loss end of.

And Floyd's fight isn't the only fight where guys entered the ring and they restored calm and the fight went on cry babies.

It's only left to the referees discretion within reason and quite frankly referees already have too much discretion which allows them to be bent.

It's not like his team entered the ring 30 seconds early and caused a minor disruption. They entered the ring for several minutes and it disrupted the flow of the fight.

Same for JCC Jr, when his father climbed onto the ring apron to give him instructions in San Antonio.
