I. Don't get the line of thinking

Floyd beats the mom and the son still sees the dad so the beating was fake?

So every son in a household with an abusive father is lying because they don't call the cops or run away

Maybe Floyd coerces the son to spend time with him with threats.. Also no matter how abusive he may have been to the mom he's still the kids dad and maybe he likes the connection or what they do but doesn't like what he's done
